I still have anxiety!!??

Sorry I haven't been around in awhile, but I was doing pretty good there for about 3 weeks.  I have been getting anxiety bad lately and don't understand why.  I have been off since Dec 6th and still get some bad feelings.  Is this normal to be up and down after this long?  Feels like I am scratching holes in myself sometimes.

Thanks I have been taking Ambien but I know that is bad too so I'm going to try something else.  Don't know yet but I will look up your ideas.  I tried a couple antidepressants and they made me feel real crappy in the morn. so I quit those.  I have to find something for the anxiety it is getting worse.  I was at the mall and took the elevator and started to freak out to myself, not outloud, that would be alittle embarassing.  I just got nervous and was afraid I would get stuck on it, it was wierd, so I took the escalator on the way back down.  thanks

I had wicked anxiety, I mean, debilitating with the w/d for about 3 weeks.  It still comes back at times, even like a claustrophobic kinda feeling too.  From what I hear, from people who are beyond me, it can go on for a while, but will be less and less pervasive.  From a medical standpoint, it's not uncommon for it to persist for six months.  For me, I had to get some pharmaceutical help with mine.  I know Cat suggested Benadryl, which is an antihistamine, and often used to help people sleep, that this med. causes the exact opposite reaction in some folks, me being one of 'em.  It caused full-blown panic, and I'm not the only one.  This being said, different stuff works for different folks.  I know myself, I tried everything out of desperation for relief, and the best for me was this forum, music, my family, and then finally, a med. for short term use.

my anxiety / mind was so bad after being clean for 7 months i went to a psychiatrist, after a few tries we found a couple meds that helped (seroquel and lamictal) regular anti depressants made me feel terrible(prozac, cymbalta and effexor).. sleep deprivation was my big issue.it has lots of very bad side effects.

low doeses of the psych meds for 2 months have me feeling MUCH better, almost my old self.

feels good

yes, you are going to be up one day down the next. It's very normal to feel that way for months. Your brain has to reset and it takes time. Be strong

I think we are all different, I have been off for 7 days, thought I was over it and felt good then WHAM, back come a few old symyoms and some new ones, ( mood swings ), well I suppose the old body is just testing us ( go on the minds saying, just one ), NEVER you shout back. I find the best way is to go for a long walk if you can.
