Ok... I'm jumping...

27 days of winding down from 30ish mg of Methadone to 5mg the last 4 days... W/d is minimum (other than complete lack of energy)  Tomorrow will be my first date without any.  What will I experience?  When?  How long?

For what its worth, the researchers all say that the total misery is the same for about all narcotics.........if you quite cold turkey you have full symptoms for a week or so. If you wean down and taper the symptoms are not usually as firece, but they hold on longer. But overall the pain is about the same...........either condensed into a week of pure misery or spread out over several weeks of milder but still annoying symptoms.  The fatigue and malaise lasted longest for me - - - also the lack of appetite and sleep. Look up the Amino Acid Protocols in the Health Discussions and especially pay attention to the 5-HTP and L-Tyrosine - although ALL are good for you.........benadryl (diphenhydramine) is pretty good for sleep and some also swear by melatonin (it didnt help me until after the w/d's were gone...) along with a hot shower - - - - - - -   This wont be any fun but it will be ever so worth it!!

My husband is on day 6 methadone free and he's starting to feel a little better. Day 1 and 2 weren't too bad, day 4 was the hardest.
My hubby's been taking imodium for the diarrhoea, magnesium supplements for the restless legs and aching back. Vit B6 plus a Bcomplex vitamin.  And phenergan to help the streaming nose and eyes plus it helps with sleep.
And drink plenty of water.  It's going to be a rough few days but keep us posted everyday. You're not alone!!!
