Addicted to Fioricet

I think i am addicted to fioricet which i started using to relieve tension headaches, but now i cannot live a day without taking at least 8 pills during a typical day. This has gone on for the past 5 months.  I am starting to feel like it is getting in the way of me performing everyday functions such as studying for my grad classes or running everyday errands.  Also, my husband does not know and we would like to get pregnant in the next 6 months but i refuse to get pregnant knowing that i may be addicted to Fioricet which may harm my unborn child. How do i break the addiction without involving a doctor or my husband?

You can get off but do it slowly I was at 20 pills A day then went to 8 then cut buy a half every month down to 7 now in I feel so much alive I will never go back. my Husband helps me he holds my meds in a safe in gives me my daily dose. You have to find it in yuourseld deep that you really want to do this. Because I wanted the same thing off and on over in over then came the day I said no more. And I have never went back my Husband even tells me I have never came this far before. so you can do it and i plan on being off within the  A year I did it slow so that my body and mind could come back to normal in no cravings what so ever. I take my vitamians such one multi vitam/one vitam C/ONEVITAMB12MULTI. this really helps. I wish you the best of luck!!! take care

Believe me, is not easy to get rid of Fioricet.I was addicted to it for over 10 years, using at the end more than 14  pills a day. Fioricet has what is called a rebound response, the more you take, your body triggers a headache because is needing more of the barbiturate included in the Fioricet. Stoping cold turkey is very dangerous, can get seizures. I tried twice, both ended in seizures.Talk to your doctor for the best plan, I got rid of it on Detox in a hospital.

Good luck

you sound just like me. only im addicted to lortab. my husband does know. and i am possibly pregnant i should find out this week, so that was my motivation to get clean. ive been clean for 9 days! if you THINK you MIGHT be addicted. then you ARE. Thats very smart of you not to want to get pregnant. the only thing i can tell you to do is count how many pills you have left and taper off of them. then you will have to deal with the withdrawls..u may be able to pass that off as the flu. its hard to get through it but if you want it bad enough as i did then it is def possible. there are many things you can do to help with the withdrawls. like walks, gatorade, vitamins (which you should start to take if you guys are wanting to get preg), bananas, immodium, pepto, and if you have someone you can trust and lean on it wouldnt be a bad idea. if not jump on here whenever you feel weak, we are all here for you. good luck and let me know if there is anything i can do!
