I'm back, 20 days clean

Well I just got out of rehab Saturday, I put myself in there. On day 20 clean of opiates cold turkey and going strong. I even refused suboxone while I was in rehab. These PAWS are hell though but I am just taking it one day at a time. As long as I don't use just for today. This is the farthest I have gone cold turkey from a 4 year addiction, anything to expect from the members who have a lot of clean time in and when will my vision come back and these PAWS ease up? Other then that, How is everyone doing?

Hey, congrats to you!  I'd thought earlier of going to rehab, but it wasn't an option this time, so went cold turkey on my own.  I'm coming down from 210mg/day of oxys and 40mg a day percocets - this long long drug journey started about 30 years ago.  So this has been very tough for me.

Can you tell me what rehab was like?

hey congrads on 20 days im glad to here your out of rehab and dident go the sub route
as for the vision thing ...I seen double vision for quite a wile probably into 30 days or so
it slowly goes away but vision problems are not uncommon....PAWS can be a whole different animal ...it can last a wile...probably more of what your feeling is post withdrawals more then paws it takes a wile for everything to come back on line again...look up the amino acid protacall on the right side of the screen under the health pages it helps both out to get what the brain needs to recover...whey protein shakes are good there loaded with amino acids as well as vitamins and protein all of witch the brain need to heal
I still drink 2 a day and im 232 days into recovery....you can pick it up at walmart for 15 bucks for a 2lb can the chocolate flavor is good all you do is mix it with milk it seams to help your next step is to get pluged (plugged) into some sort of aftercare this will help you thew the tuff times ahead ....good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

Honestly I did not know what to expect when i got to rehab, I met some of the best people there and bonded with a lot of people. We actually had a sing along outside on a picnick table when the pink cloud effect was kicking in for all of us, it was really awesome. We were all fiening to hear music so we all just sang old songs. I still talk to all of those people via facebook as of now and we plan on hitting NA meetings together. Our group were all there for each other as well, it was kind of like a family.

I have been working the heck out of the 12 steps and I bought the NA book while I was in rehab, I like it better than the big book because the steps are better explained. I am def going to hit up some NA meetings around here, I have a list of a ton of them all within walking distance. I am currently working step 8 at the moment.

I do want to say something, if you are trying to get clean, working out makes you feel wonderful, even if it is just doing some walking.

Congrats on the clean time!!!  Sounds like you are working your program and it is working for you.  The vision should get better.  If it doesnt go see an eye doctor.  Keep working out as that will make you feel better both mentally and physically.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.........sara
