Finally seeing the doctor

Good morning. I have been taking various forms of pain medication, recreationally for almost 2 years now, and know that I am addicted to them. I am currently at about 8-10 30mg Roxy's a day. In my mind, I truly wish that I had never started this and know that if I could go back 2 years, knowing what I know now, I would have done many thngs differently. I guess we all have that thought at times. I am seriously considering going to my doctor to explain my situation and get his opinion and advice on gettong off of this. My question is what do they give you... or tell you to do when you go this route as opposed to trying to do it yourself.

Thanks for the help and information.

I am on 70mg of methadone. My doctor told me to dose the initial day, and then don't dose the day that I come in to see him to be put on subonox. I am very scared. I've heard that you have to be on a lower dose to begin the sobonox treatment. What will happen if I decide to do this? Will I go into immediate withdrawls. I hear all sorts of things, and I want to know if you can give me some advice?

Welcome and congratulations on wanting to get clean.Rose gave you all the vital information you need to start the process.Going to your doctor and being completely honest with him/her is a good idea because as Rose told you they can give you something to lessen the anxiety and help you with sleep for the first week, which will be the roughest physically. The physical part is rough, but after about 5-7 days it will ease up.You will most likely feel a real loss of energy, but utilize the thomas' recipe and there is also an amino acid protocl on the bottom right side of page.Be sure to drink alot of liquids, water or gatorade, stay away from things like soda and coffee, you don't want to increase the anxious feeling by adding caffeine.Keep yourself nourished,if you can't stomach real food ensure or boost are great alternatives. You  are not going to feel like it but it is so important and helps so much to get some type of exercise during that first week.Forcing yourself to get up and just take a 10 minute walk those first couple of days will bring you alot of relief afterwards.Be determined to beat this, get yourself mentally prepared for this fight, know that YOU CAN DO THIS,and that you are not alone everyone here will be here to help.Post often and stay strong.I'm praying for you. Peace.

The best thing you've already done is to realize that you're addicted!! Secondly your doctor needs to know so that he/she can give you Valium, just enough to get you through about a week.
There are many people who swear by Subonox, but you will eventually have to taper off of that as well.
My thought is that if you can get a few days off work, go the CT route. You will feel like you have a bad case of the flu, which is a good excuse to hide behind, and it will last about a week. Read the Thomas Recipe listed on this page and it will give you some ideas for supplements, all natural, that will lessen the w/d symptoms!!
Last but certainly not least, keep posting on here for the support that you will need to get through this!
It will be hard, but I know you can do this!! My prayers are with you!!
