Is Norco Easier to Withdraw from than 80mg Oxycontin?

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if Norco, 10-325 is easier to withdraw from than Oxycontin 80mg. My friend was taking 2 oxycontin 80mg a day and told her doctor ( they were not prescribed) and she told the doctor that the only thing stopping her from quitting oxycontin was the horrible withdrawals. He put her on Norco and told her to wean down with those, and that going cold turkey off Norcos ( once she's weaned down to 5 a day) is easier than w/d from oxycontin. I would really appreciate your help, input and advice!!!

yeah its a lot easier to wd from norcos than oxy.norcos is 7.5 mgs of hydrocodone(usually vicodin, is what most pp, know it by) but is 50% lessa spotent as oxycodone the chemical opioid in oxycontin, the biggest and worst part about oxycontin is that it is prescribed for very severe chronic pain that needs to be manage around the clock, one oxycontin will last 12 hrs if not chewed or crushed..but the whole oxy epidemic started when users figured out that if you suck off the coating on the pill, and cushed up the powder, you could shoot, snort, smoke, or take orally the powder and get an instant high dose amount of pure oxycodone, whereas other oxycodone products like percocet contain only 5mgs of oxyocdone and then 325mgs of tylenol, liniting the amount of abuse possible. so opiate abusers found a high that extremely strong, resembles heroin in every way. and wholla, its abuse grew rapidly all over the US, and still is at alarming rates.. it is referred to as "Hillbilly Heroin". that was my DOC along wtih Heroin. they were about the same in potency and effects for me and I loved them both, so much that they controlled my entire life and destroyed everything i once had. I was heavily addicted for over two years, adn was enslaved to the green 80 mg OC oxycontin tablets. it is so sad and pathetic, but you can perservere. the doctor is right if they can get someone who doesnt use opiates at all to hold onto their meds and also give them out at proper times then they can slowly taper off of the norcos and once they are down low enough they will only encounter once fully off the norcos minor discomfort if even that, no horrible wd's.Now going cold turkey would give the normal wd's symptoms so that is something to avoid at all cost. yeah if she didnt taper low enough, like to one norco a day, then the wd's would def. not be a walk in the park but it would be manageable and their are prescription/non-opiate drugs and OTC drugs out there to aid during wds(immodium as, anti-nausea meds, ambien for insomnia, a short term use of a bezodiazepine(valium, xanax, lorazepam, klonopin, etc) for the restelssness, anxiety, creepy crawlies, dysphoria,RLS, insomnia), clonidine, which is crucial for the blood rpessure/temp. spikes, the hot/cold flashes, the sweats, chills, goosebumps, the crawling in the skin, and many other symptoms it helps. but like i said if she lowers her norco intake enough over time, she will ahve no wd's, only minor minor discomfort at most for a few dyas, so try that and shell be all good..its been done many times before

Withdrawls are hard no matter what. But oxycontin is sooooo much stronger than the norcos. If she can wean down that would be great but she will not escape the w/ds completely..............

Good Luck!
