Hmm--After Reading About CHAD--I've sorta found my answer.
Except, Ive had Contracts for Vicodin and Oxycodne - and neither of those gave me the shakes if I stopped cold turkey.
Since I have come off Methadone - I have Nothing now for Back Spasms - im Hoping Tramadol may be a Better substitute than Vicodin or Oxy - and Im sure as Hell never going back to Methadone....Unless I hit 60yo or sumthin??
NO, NO, NO. Do NOT take tramadol. Read my post the drug from hell.
I was prescribed it for back pain too. I had addiction issues in the past as well. I would rather cold turkey oxycontin than this drug. I have been on a freaking taper, not cold turkey, and I have been sick for SEVEN days now.
The doctors have been misled into thinking it is only mildly addictive. They are very, very wrong. It is the worst withdrawal I've ever been through.
Take vicodin if you have to. It's easier to get off. Better yet, don't take anything. I'd welcome my back pain now if it meant I had never taken this drug.
Thx for your Reply. I had thought It would be Much milder than Vicodin or Percocet. And as I said - Either of those I can go on and off of without issue.
Hard to believe that Tramadol is So Bad? I would have never guessed - being that its a Non Narcotic....
I agree with bfarley - Under no circumstances take Tramadol. I have a history of addiction in my family, and I myself have been addicted to Hydrocodone (Lortab/Vicodin). I had no trouble putting those down when I decided to. My father is given Tramadol and was told all the stuff about it being safe. I tried some about a year ago. No high per se, but it helped my bone/joint pain (I'm 48) and I felt "good." I figured out how addicted I was 6 months ago when I ran out. NOT FUN. HORRID. I'm beginning the slow taper spoken of. Right now I take 10 50mg pills, 5 in the morning, 3 at noon, and 2 at night. I feel okay, but to really feel like myself at best I would need to take more in the afternoon. I'm really scared! I went to my first N/A meeting this last week. Met someone there who had the same Tram problem and I haven't had a chance yet to pick her brain. I'm smart enough to know my problem is worse than the physical Tramadol addiction, but what I have read from others trying to get off this drug, regardless of how they started it, is really scary. If you are not taking it - DON'T. I agree - take Lortabs or Vicodin before Tramadol.
HEY Dude ....first off I wanted to say count your blessings you came off the methadone without getting sick for months your the first one that I know of thats done that
I agree with the other posters about tramadol everything I have read about it
says it highly addictive and a real bit#h to come off of...dont fool yourself with
the vics or oxy ether you can very ezly develop a dependence on ether of those
drugs with some hard withdrawals you best bet is to stick to things like ibupropine
the 800mg ones work for my back pain...never use to wile on narcotics but they do now
see if you can get a script for 800mg ibuprofin and give that a shot now that your off the narcotic's hang in there your brain will rest the pain clock now that your off the narcotics
and you should find your pain a whole lot more manageable............Gnarly
Yeah--Im actually suprised how decent I feel after being off Methadone Completely, and for less than a Month.
I was really thinking I was going to be feeling Down and Out for the next couple months.
But feeling great now.
Ive recently been put on Neurotin. Not sure if theyre helping or not? They definately make me sleepy. But yah - Off Methadone and Narcs, feeling pretty good !!
Be careful with Neurotin. It is a tricky medication. My psychiatrist put me on it to manage A.D.D. symptoms and he said it would help stabilize my mood swings. It made my ability to stay on task far worse than before. I was living in San Francisco at the time and I would call home to Alabama and my mom said I rambled on like an idiot. I also got fired from a good job because of inability to complete complicated assignments. I know others who take it with no problems. Just saying...
DO NOT TAKE TRAMADOL IT IS VERY ADDICTIVE
Very addicting and the worst to come off of.
