It's been so long

...wow I haven't been on here since 2009 and have just looked at my trackers and it tells me it has been 1365 days  since my last dose of methadone. It now seems like a lifetime ago. Well not really but when I do think about it, it just feels strange like it was someone else. But I know I must never forget or I may get complacent and think 1 might be ok as I am a different person now. Yes I am a different person but my drug receptors are not as is not my persuasion to addiction (of any kind). I must always be aware of the situations I put myself into and the decisions I make.

I am very proud of how far I have come again and am determined never to let myself make that same mistake again.

I want to say thank you to everyone who helped me on here. I honestly don't think I could have done it without you. You were there for me when I needed strength, advice and encouragement. It was great to be able to get advice from people who have been there or are there and not from the doctors who only know what they learn in text books and seminars. They don't have any idea of the physical and mental torture you are experiencing. Studying addiction and withdrawal doesn't come close to experiencing it first hand.

So thank you thank you thank you.

I wish everyone strength and the best of luck on their journey

It is very possible as long is you are committed to making a new life for yourself. The old you must be left behind along with anything or anyone to do with your addiction. It's a big job but it very very possible.

NEVER give up trying to give up!

Great post!! I too am a former methadone user. On it for 8 years and now off of it for 63 days. And it IS liberating! I love to see stories such as yours, they're what keeps me going because I know there's a different life to be had. I would also like to see you post more. Positive and encouraging posts make my days so much better. :)

GREAT INSPIRING POST !!!!!!! I am 160 days from my many years of methedone and alot of other substances with it and before it...I can really look up to you. I love the doctor statement yes this is so true. I get so discourage when they put someone on methedone or subx instead of just tapeing them down from the drug they are on. I study the "Disease of Addiction" and like to spread this info here. It is helping me to stay clean plus my meetings, support at home, and I had to divorce my user friends. New Life, New World........
Why do you not post here and there? I like to read the thread from the oltimers...
God Bless and good job.
vickie
PS I am doing the math on those days...

Thank you so much.

Keep up the great work and just remember that success can't come with out pain. As scary and as horrible it is you must go through it because its that that stops you going back and reliving the torture all over again. What goes up must come down before it can plateau into a comfortable balance.

The pain makes it real and the pain ending and you getting your control back is your reward for your incredible strength in fighting this demon.

So when you are feeling scared about finally taking that step to jump off and it is jump off regardless of how little your on remember its not meant to be easy. Stay strong and fight. You can do it. Grab hold of the wheel and drive

All the best in your journey
