So...Today is day 1

So I guess today is day 1.  Certainly wasn't the plan when I woke up this morning, but as good as any day.  Plus it is a good week for me court-wise.(Gotta keep positive right)  I know days 3-5 is gonna suck, but I got my Thomas Recipe and I am ready to go. Figure I will feign sickness on Thursday (not really faking it though am I), and then take Friday as well.  Should get me through days 3-5 at home and out of the office.

Told my fiance today and she was scared, but she is the most amazing woman in the world and I know she will be there for me throughout this process.

I will keep you all updated.  Not looking forward to the next few days/weeks (especially the nights--Been there before and they are never fun) but I have to do this...I will do this.
.
Thanks for all of the support and encouragement in my last post from this morning

You and me kid.  Thanks for the well wishes. You are right in a week from now the real ugly will be over with.  So what made you decide to quit.  Mine wasn't money, I got the pills for so cheap that I barely saw an impact. Wasn't performance at work, never felt like I slipped.  I just finally got fed up with constantly thinking about them.  How many do I have, when will I get more, will my girl answer, will she have enough.  I am just fed up.

I wish you the best of luck.  I will keep posting.  Please do the same.  Chat with you soon I am sure.

To both of you, I am glad to see that you are starting with a positive attitude as it will help you through this nasty process. Matt it is great that your woman is going to help you through this support is everything. Remember just keep taking those vitamins and supplements they will take some of the edge off w/d's. Also drink a lot of fluids and try to eat something. If you don't feel like eating get some ensure for protein. Exercise as much as you can and get sun as it does help. I was where you both are 16 days ago and although it was difficult I made through and so will you. When w/d's make you feel like you can't go on anymore just come back to the forum and post your feelings. You will be surprised on what great therapy it can be for you. I will pray that God will give you the strength to make it to the end of this ordeal---quitinoxys

Good luck to both of you!

Nyquil(without the decongestant) helps a little for restlessness and insomnia~
Plain old tonic water (lemon wedge to be fancy?) helps the restless legs because it has quinine in it.
Drink water;never be without a glass!!!  Flush Flush Flush!!  Pee  Pee  Pee !!!

well the jacuzzi was amazing.  really helped relax me.  I know what is ahead and I can beat this.  Thank you all for the support.  It was reading all the other posts that gave the strength to finally say today is the day.  So many people who have never met supporting each other.  Really is an amazing thing.

I have a party scheduled for Saturday at my place. None of my friends use so that wont be a problem.  Just not sure I will be up to it on Saturday.  I guess the "matt is sick" line will have to do.

Craig.  I am gonna keep an eye on you.  If you need anything just post here.  I wont be far away, unless I am sleeping...yeah right.

HI well it sounds like you got your attitude in the right place and thats so important ..going in to this with a win win attitude will help more then you can imagine...this is a battle one or lost in ones own mind..it sounds like you have done this b/4...be sure to put some aftercare in your plan so this can be the last time you have to do this...also read nothing into it every detox is different it might not be as bad as your thinking...dont forget about a good hot soak in the tub it helps with a lot of the symptoms and force the fluids good luck to you I will check on you guys tomorrow...keep posting and reading the posts..if you cant sleep just lay on the couch with your eyes closed and some soft music playing in the background it may be the closest thing to sleep your going to get for the next few days
God bless......Gnarly

Congrats to both of you, I was in your shoes 23 days ago. Couch to bed, flip flopping around, no sleep. but out the door at 6 am for work, fortunatly I work alone so my constant crying wasnt a problem. Sound like you guys are doing great, keep it up, and your life will back in YOUR control, That constant thinking of where am I getting my pills is gone and I am able to to be a great husband and father. Try a big pot of chicken soup, Its the best thing for divorce, a broken toe and the WD. Best of luck to both of you and prayers will be sid .

Matt and Craig,

Rock it guys!  Attitude is everything in this game that we play with our lives.  I am on day 29 and finally feeling better. (Longer detox from Buprenorphine)

It sounds lie you have all the tools in your arsenal and are ready to roll.

Matt, get ready to live in that hot tub!  Mine was a god send, cranked the water up to 104F and I was good to go.  Both of you guys should check out Hylands Restful Legs, its homeopathic.  It wont make the RLS go away, but it takes the edge off.  Also, a good quality calcium/CHELATED magnesium supplement at night.  Make sure its chelated magnesium, NOT magnesium oxide, as that stuff is just pure garbage!

Be sure to post here on those nights that you cant sleep.  It will be a good record for you to come back and view your progress.  So on day 6 or 7 when you think "I feel like hell" you can come back and see how much better you were doing on day 3.

Stay positive albeit as hard as it may be.  Humour was one of my best defenses!

Hang in there and keep us posted.

Henry

I hope all is going well. I know its very hard to go thru something like this but I am on day 6 and am feeling better every day!! I haven't felt this good in YEARS!!! Just when you think you get the energy off these meds, they are just really bogging you down. I hope you make it through the tough days and stick to it! I know its much easier to take something to just feel better but if you tough it out, everything will be so much better!!!

The time just drags.  feels like I have been at work for a full day.  Half-way through.  Tomorrow is my half day.  Already droppping the hints that I am not feeling very well.  I know the rough stuff is ahead.  Vitamins taking the edge off a little.  The L-Tyrosine really helps give me a pep.  The malaise *****.  i just don't want to do anything.  Billable hours are gonna suffer in June, good thisng they quit traking mine.  If only I could bill the time I spent on this board, I could end the month early.  Thanks for all of the well-wishers out there

just wanted to send you both my well wishes, you CAN and WILL do this! :) The positive attitudes are what will help you the most! I honestly believe that that is #1 when it comes to getting clean. If you want it BADLY, you'll do it and you both sound very positive already. Which in my opinion is amazing on the first couple days! I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, that you get through this quickly, and can't say painless, since we all know that's not possible.. but maybe with some ease at least. Have you tried Melatonin for sleep? It helped me a TON early on, got me some sleep that I didn't think was even possible! Stay strong, and hang in there both of you! :)

Matt---Be careful of taking the L-Tyrosine as it can raise your bp. Your bp will be elevated due to the w/d anyway so take it with caution. What I did when I was going through w/d was monitored my bp and adjusted the L-Tyrosine accordingly. You can by a bp monitor at walgreens (or wherever you shop) they are fairly cheap. Keep going your doing great.
