It's true - a lot of this is easier said than done - but I promise you once you get moving and try some of the suggestions given you'll both begin to feel a little better.

Try hot showers or baths with epsom salts - a good brisk walk - eating something and remembering to stay hydrated.  Remind yourself (every second if you have to) that what you're doing is the BEST thing for both you and your partner.  Probably the best thing you've done for yourselves in a while (at least it was that way for me).

I found the more I resisted the withdrawal, and feared the symptoms, the worse it was.  Gnarly (one of our wisest members here) said you have to be okay with NOT being okay for a while.  And it's so so true.

Have you tried the supplements and/or vitamins suggested in the thomas recipe or the amino acid protocol?  They helped me so much - I'll admit it wasn't so noticeable those first few days, but in time I found them to be a g-dsend (stuff like fish oil tablets, b12 sublingual tablets (for energy), valerian root for the anxiety, melatonin for sleep and immodium AD for the stomach issues).

And actually - read unmanageable's posts again - she gave a TON of great advice and a lot of specific things you can do to help ease the withdrawal.

Let us know what you've tried and I'm sure everyone here can help you through.

all in all everything is easier said than done we all know it takes alot of will power especially at that moment when everything possible is hurting you and you feel its the end of the world.................WE truly appreciate all the advise but the bottom line is we have to suck it in and learn to LIVE again this has plagued our lives long enough and we need our control back.................cold turkey is way to hard so my good people what can we do to ease the simptoms?

You know something, I agree with this.....

The thing about keeping the house clean and orderly.  Keeping clean clothes handy to change into after a sweatfest.  Clean smelling lotions and soaps and shampoo always, ALWAYS made me feel better.  Even if it was only for a few minutes, it felt good!  Any kind of bath stuff that smells good is a great idea too.  I had to make myself do it sometimes, but it was worth it!  Just muster up the energy, and go for it!  You'll be glad you did!

I forgot to add that asking the universe or GOD or whatever you believe in...sincerely praying to have the symptoms  removed actually works.

I have been changing my sheets daily and keeping house clean. Chaos around you will make your detox way worse. Find quiet.  Wash your hair with something that smells amazing. Use heavenly lotions on your skin!  It all helps you stay in the game.

WANT TO BE SOBER with everything you have. Be willing to do whatever it takes because sobriety comes first.

We suffer from an illness that is fatal if not treated daily. You can do this !!

Wow I know what you mean. I am in day 6 after heavy Norco 10/325 addition. I read a lot on here and noticed it was making the anxiety worse. Much of withdrawal is centered in the mind. I remember one time I found a single pill when I was in w/d and all my symptoms went away before i even ingested it.

I never forgot that. I am staying calm and being a witness to my thoughts. When they get off track I bring it back to strength and hope. I am trying to be very kind to myself.

I am going to be honest here. I used neurontin for sleep and nerve pain.  Banana twice a day.
Extra potassium, multiple vitamin,  amino acid supplements all in LIQUID form  max absorption. I have been exfoliating with both a dry mitten (available at most drug stores) and scrub in the shower. Always end shower with cold water. If you can turn hot then cold several times  all the better. We detox through the skin, lungs and tongue.   Brush tongue with hydrogen perooxide ( totally safe to gargle with too, a custom in Switzarland).  Tongue is coated and white right? Scrub that stuff off and detox will go faster.

Finally, eat mostly raw foods and make fruit smoothies with almond milk. DAIRY IS OUT. It is like drinking or eating glue. It gunks up the elimination process.   Go to gym and get in the sauna. Take cold shower and then go back in. It's ok to get chills in the heat. You are moving toxins out through your skin. Do stretches for RLS (yoga is preferred).  Go to Chiro if you can.

The crap is stored in our muscles and large intestine so if you can afford a colonic do it after a mostly liquid diet of fresh fruit and vegetable  juice. It comes out bright yellow when we eliminate from colon.  Take colon cleanse with banana and a big glass of water. Swim in a pool to releive muscle pain. Have to move the muscles to get out the bad stuff.

Good luck!  Remember: "don't let anyone take your joy, not even you"  choose happiness despite your challenges.

Have you taken Seroquel before?  I'd really stay away from that one...It will make you drowsy but you may not feel well after taking it. Plus,it's an antipsychotic...

Have either of you tried counseling, NA or AA or an addictionologist?

Your way isn't working so you have to try something NEW this time.  Like vicki said, what are you going to do differently this time?  And I agree with everyone - starting any other addictive med is only asking for trouble.  The biggest part of getting clean is finding a new way to live your life - and not relying on meds to get you through.

You sound like you both want it badly enough - so take the help wherever it's available.  You do NOT have to live like this anymore.

Sounds like you guys really NEED to get clean this time!  You're going to die and orphan those boys if you don't quit.

Get some imodium.  Take it every four hours or whatever the package says.  it helps a multitude of symptoms. I'd stay away from that other stuff.  Too addicting.  You don't wanna exchange one habit for another.....or few!  Definitely force fluids and eat bland stuff.  I drank lots of apple juice and gatorade.  They have tons of potassium in them.  Hyland's Leg Cramps helped my legs not kill me....plus hot baths.  Those help a bunch! : )

Good luck!  DO IT this time, ok?

Hi-  Except for the Zoloft, those are some strong meds so be careful.

Okay...Force fluids. THE most important thing. Be sure to eat;especially protein. Get some Hylands Restful Legs at Walmart/Walgreens. Take vitamins and minerals!

What can you do differently this time so you don't have to keep going through this???

Keep in touch!
