Methadone *****

Well as some of you know i tried to get off methadone by substituting with pain killers, big mistake considering that was the whole reason i started methadone, i was on a low dose of 6mg and taking pain killers for about 3 weeks, then i quit the methadone and very quickly started taking more and more pain killers until i was taking like 100-150mgs per day, well after about 8 days without methadone i ran out of pain killers and think i starting detoxing off both at the same time, the back pain was so excruciating i caved and found 120mg of methadone liquid, i took one little sip which i think was 20mgs apparently, after that ive measured it to be 1 ml to 10 mg, i want to do this right this time, so im going to take 1/2 ml per day or 5 mgs until it runs out then just kick methadone, its hard enough to kick methadone without having a dang pill habit to kick also, thank you all for your continued support, ill eventually do this :)

i probably would have done that gnarly, but my supply of pills ran out and the only thing i could find was methadone, i refuse to go back to the clinic though, i have a bad bad addiction with pain killers and always take more than necessary, i was never able to taper myself on them, i guess since the methadone lasts longer and i feel alright just from like 5-10mg or like 0.5/1ml of this liquid i can control it, i think im withdrawaling from the pills, but i am very very determined and strict with this methadone, probably because i hate taking methadone anymore, so i refuse to take more than 1ml a day and im going to dilute it with water so 1ml will equal 5mg instead of 10mg in a couple days, plus i can get a 120mg bottle of methadone that will last for a couple weeks were one day of pain pills would cost that if i could find them, thanx for the continued support everyone im pushing through this and the more im on here the more i want to be a person posting clean time and letting ppl know it can be done, thanx gnarly youve always been a great help to everyone on here everyday although you dont have to and have put your addiction behind you, and that also goes for anyone that helps ppl on here thank you all!!!

I was on methedone for 12yrs I used hydro/oxy for 6 yrs before that. I can say from experience from watching my husband and others comming off of the other opiates (not methedone) they seem to get better quicker. We all seem to experience somewhat the same withdraws not matter what we use. however everyone I havetalked to for years say methedone is the Hardest and longer detox because of the way it lives in the body. I am in my 5th month and I still experience some milder stages. Methedone long use can be very evil and the stages are not fun.My experince is to taper from the other pain pills and not even go with the methedone I have watched many do this and are up in running in a shorter period then methedone users. Remember this comes from a professional head dr. that we all have to give it a yr or so to get the brain transmitter or whatever fireing up again. Brain has alot to do with the way our body functions to. Good Luck you seemed to have been there before. I just hate methedone and do not recommend it.
God Bless us all for the first step.

I still think you should explore your back pain a lil more. I'm not 100% on this but don't think 2-3 weeks of extreme pain is common for a withdraw symptom. It makes a lot of sense that when you come off pain killers that you feel pain but usually its something that is existing or it doesn't stay that intense for so long. Just because you only feel pain in withdraw doesn't mean its not there while you are on pain killers. If I didn't deal with my pain first I don't think I could have ever stopped.

yeah definately dont try and substitute youll only make the problem bigger, at 9 days i wasnt sure if i was coming off methadone or pain pills, i didnt know if this horrible back pain would go on for 2-3 days or weeks, everything about it was uncertain which really raised my anxiety so high, just keep tapering down as low as you can go and quit!!!

Hi, I've actually thought about switching to pills or dope to get off methadone, and then doing the rapid detox to get off of that. Fortunately I wouldn't know the 1st place anymore to get anything like that... The ONLY good thing I can say about methadone; it got me far away from the lifestyle, and anyone and everyone I ever used with. Ugh... The life we live and crazy ideas we get!

Reading your post makes me realize that's probably not a very good idea anyway. And you're right, I'm sure u had to take a substantial amount of pills to subside the methadone w/d.
I'm just an addict out there trying to find the easiest most "pain free" way to get my body clean from opiates... After reading people's personal experiences online non stop for the last month or so, Im beginning to finally realize that there is no easy way...
Please keep us posted on how your doing and I wish you the best of luck!

rekovrd i think thats probably why i ended up taking so many pain pills because they would only work like 4-5 hours and i needed like 30mgs at a time to chase away methadone withdrawals, i cant wait to be free of this methadone prison!!!

If you can just taper the methadone and not take the pills you will have an easier time. I tapered (kinda...dropped fairly random amounts till 40 m l/day as enough to feel semi ok) then kicked. I also kept about 20m l with me. I used it for strenght. If I could stop with it right there then that proved to me that I was serious this time. Poured it out about day 6 when I knew that I was in it full hearted. I to used to take dilaudid and oxy when I didn't have methhadone but when ii decided to quit I kept to just the methadone to try to get on a lower even dose before detxing. They really are the same thing In the end to some extent but the highs and lows of pills kinda thew me off. Didn't like starting to feel bad when I woke then 6 hour later then 6hr.
Had a tough 10-15 days but on day 20 I'm feeling pretty good.
You can do this. You can push through 3 weeks of hell for the life you so clearly want. The worst is only a week :)

I think I'm the master of doing everything the hard way. Well, you'll probably remember that lesson this round. I always said that's why I do things the hard way, helps me remember. Oh well, you sound like you have a descent plan, you might think about going a little lower toward the end, it helps some people to go real low. You're doing great, you haven't quit quitting. You really need to cut loose from those sources though. Don't learn that the hard way, if you can get it, there's a good chance you will. Glad you're still fighting.
