Methadone Post Acute Withdrawal duration??

Now that I have reached day 11 I am starting to feel random waves of dysphoria, no energy, and anxiety.

Since its methadone and not some opiate with a shorter half life, how long can i expect to feel this way?

Thank you all for your help.

Alright its day 17, im staying strong : ) no usage ever again.

Mostly now i just have a nervous stomach, feel like about to go to prom or something, or bungee jump.

Is there some kind of herbal relief for this butterfly sensation? : )

Thank you everyone for your help : )

Hey kurt, awesome update. Congrats on your clean time. Keep on truckin'.
You are healing. Each day will get better. Could have a bad day here and there. That is just life in general throw in the detox and you get the point.. one day at a time. Positive attitude is very important. You have that. That will take you far. Recovery is a marathon not a sprint. You are on the recovery road. Keep on keepin on. Push yourself and move as much as possible. Exercise really helps to restore your endrophins..
Continued prayers,hope and healing,
Debbie

Well it is lucky day number 13. Yesterday i felt better than day 11. Today i feel a little better than yesterday. SO hopefully this pattern continues : ) Everyone is saying that's how it works but i have to keep telling myself that. Its getting better, its getting better.

Yesterday I spent most of the day sitting around, felt like i couldn't do much until a best friend called went and hung out with him. He was very helpful just saying "im proud of you" made me feel really good. Lots of raw emotion. Either Happy, or Sad, or Raging, or blah.

IM STILL TRUCKING THROUGH!!!

Feel like i did in high school. before i started all that crap. just get excited about little things.

For all of you lurkers ; ) think of it like temporary suffering for long term happiness. it is like someone says your going to have to feel horrible for a while but when its over you can have a Million dollars! or you can Fly! or whatever Xmen power you would like. I just feel excited because i can kinda feel myself coming back online. Rebooting.....

thank you all for your support and VERY helpful comments.

They do help. You all help.

Hey Kurt,
11 days is awesome and I commend you!  I'm sorry to say but you've got a ways ahead of you with these symptoms that will come and go.  You will have days where you feel awesome and days where you'll feel like you're back at square one.  You gotta go with it, because the GREAT news is- it gets better every day and as long as you don't use, you WON'T go back to square one....EVER.
You must take loving care of yourself, be gentle, and be patient (the hardest thing for us addicts...(:)
Eat well, get plenty of exercise (really is the best medicine) and drink LOTS of water.  Are you doing a vitamin regime?  Amino Acid Protocol?  This is UBER important when coming off any opiate, especially methadone.

Be proud of yourself.  You are doing this!

Hi & elcome,

You are not suffering "Post Accute", you are still in withdrawal. Day 11 is wonderful but it is not long for such a long-acting drug. The time it takes to heal is very different for everyone and depends on how much, how long you took it and on your age and general health. I am glad to see you made the decision to get clean so keep going forward. Each day you should see some improvement as long as you don't use. Best of luck and stick around. there is great support here.
