Please be patient with me..writing is not a gift I have and this could get long but I have to do this.

Over the last 3 or so years I have become addicted to hydros.  I went into the doc's office, said my legs and feet really hurt, which they truely did, and this is when I was given my first ever hydro..the 10/500 kind.  Guess what?  IT WORKED!  And the rest of the story is history we all know.

The past 1.5 years I have seen 10 different docs to try and tell me what is wrong with me.  Both of my feet sting, burn and sometimes really just hurt.  The pain gets into both knees and up the back of both legs and into my lower back.  This is not a joke....of the 10 docs I have seen I have received 9 different diagnosis from Idopathic Neuropathy to Plantar Fasciitis to being a diabetic to Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome to having disk surgery.  In this same time frame is when I was coming off a 75 mic Fentanyl patch addiction started by the second pain doc I went to see for relief.

I had an MRI done which revealed a bulging disk...nothing really bad...but enough that I know it is there and it is getting slowly worse with age.  I had 3 different docs look at my back MRI...and you guessed it...3 different diagnosis.    

As I was coming off the Fentanyl patch I noticed that the pain was worse...I expected that.  Not only was the pain worse but I noticed a stinging, burning pain in both feet and my hands...this scared the **** out of me.  I thought "I'm really going downhill at 42."    I did not have this sensation when I first went to the doc.  

I am currently trying to quit Norcos...today I have only taken 1 5/325 pill which I broke in half and took the first half this morning and the other half around 3pm.  Here is where this gets interesting.  

I have been experiencing the stinging, burning pain in both feet and hands ever since I beat that Fentanyl patch.  I quickly went back on the hyrdos thinking they were somehow safer.  I also noticed that each time my body gets "Low" on pain meds the stinging, burning pain comes right back.   "Hmmmmm, guess I really have legitimate pain and have to stay on Norcos the rest of my life."  

I was reading a post on this forum last week where a person was trying to quit hydros and each time she tried she would get this burning, stinging sensation in both feet and hands.  EUREKA!  I'm not the only one.  

Here is my point.  How much time and money could I have saved if one of the 10 docs would have said "You know....coming off of pain meds will cause a burning/stinging sensation in feet and hands."  How much mental anguish could they have saved me if they had told me that a year ago.  

Yes..it is my fault for abusing they hyrdos in the first place.  Yes..it is my fault for not fully researching hyrdros before I took that first one but aren't we supposed to trust our doctors?  Aren't they supposed to have our best interests in mind when we see them?  Right now both of my feet feel like they are on fire but I'm not as scared now knowing this is a withdrawal symptom for some people.  By the way...the stinging/burning goes away each time I take a hydro.

With the exception of the 2 docs that saved my life 3 years ago I have absolutely no use for them.  In my opinion they are nothing more than greedy pill pushers.  Yes...they do have people using them for addicitions but not all of us can are guilty by association.  

You can bet that the next time a doc tries to give me something I will reasearch it.  My best advice to all of you is to LIVE HEALTHY!  

Guess what I am trying to say is DONT ABSOLUTELY TRUST YOUR DOCTOR!  My experience has been they could give a **** about you but they really care about your insurance.

I dont know what else to say to ya but I TOTALLY agree!!!  Most Docs only know what the drug companies say and alot of the docs only care about making more money and God knows that thats the only thing on the drug companies minds!!  And the Docs that DO care..they only can prescribe what the drug companies tell them will work whether its good for you or not...who cares as long as they get there $$$$$$$$;)

complaining is 1 thing, livning  without dependance on drugs is another, ive had lots of back pain and pain in my legs and feet over the last 5 years after an injury, i have seen a chiropractor twice a week for 5 years, and im almost completely better. 5 months completely clean and very little physical discomfort.
some people dont like em, but i believe a good chiropractor is a wonderful thing.

I understand about the docs.  One tells you one thing, another tells you another, then the third one will refer you to someone else...sounds like you have a legit medical condition, just like I did.  The problem comes in when you hear so many stories from different docs and they all decide that "Pain Managment" is best.  You do what they tell you, then bam you're hooked.  Then you go to a forth doc and they freak out and won't touch you with a 10 foot pole and insinuate that you are a pill head...when all you did was do what the other doc told you.  I'm really irrate over my situation, which can be found several places on this site.  I posted it multiple places, hoping for some help also.

Good luck on the docs...I think I have bought at least 3 yahts for them and paid for a couple of medical degrees...
