What exactly have you been taking, how much, and how often?
You've come to far. I stopped methadone, hydrocodone, Valium, resteril & zanaflex all on the same day. We're getting to close to being over the worse. Don't put yourself on something else you'll have to detox off. Remember we don't ever want to feel this way again. The clonidine won't hurt you. It's a blood pressure medicine prescribed to addicts to help with skin crawling, anxiety & to rest. But it can drop your blood pressure. I couldn't use it. I have a pretty low pressure anyway. I took it & almost fell out, lol.
How much oxycodone are you taking?
Up to 30 mg oxycodone and up to 30 Valium
I didn't put myself on it the doctor told me to take it to help with withdrawals I don't know anything about drugs this started out cause an ER dr put me on methadone cause of my multiple sclerosis pain. But the pain went away after they did surgery on my torn knee and removed a tumor that was pressing on a nerve . What do I do now?
How long have you been taking the oxy and Valium? How long were you off the methadone? Whats your symptoms right now? Please give more info so we can help
22 days no methadone about 18 days Valium an oxycodone
Lily I asked and you said 5 mgs valium and 5 mgs oxy.
I dont think That should be causing a problem at low doses.
valium can actually make you anxious after being on them awhile ,but you have Only been on them for a few weeks and I thought at a lower dose.
18 days Valium and oxycodone what?? You've been taking it that long or have not been taking it? It's difficult to put it all together without the facts...
Again, how long were you taking methadone?
I stopped methadone on 9/2 /14 about a week later they gave me those other drugs but I did not take the strength they told me to. I took 1/2 of what they said but I have to get off them that's what's causing the waves of anxiety and depression. I can't believe the doctor did this
When did you start methadone?
Oh... I thought only 5mgs total of each throughout the day.
Opiate detox especially methadone does take really months to feel better from, as far as the depression and anxiety.
Start a taper. Do you need something for pain relief for the ms?
How long have you been on pain meds?
Did you just start the Valium when you stopped the methadone?
Yes started the Valium when stopped methadone the dr said he gave me the oxycodone cause he thought the pain would have been too much with the MS. I wish he explained it better to me. The oxycodone is why I have been having these waves of depression. I can't handle this depression alone am going for help next week. Will try to taper down as much as I can on my own. I still have no methadone in my system but that dr should have made it clear about the other drug. This depression is a killer
Im curious how much methadone u were taking when u quit?
The clonidine should not cause anxiety issues...it does help with withdrawal but because it is also a medication prescribed for high blood pressure that's what I would check out. Monitor your blood pressure when the "attacks" happen. It IS possible that your blood pressure is going up and down (I have it so been there) When mine would be high and then drop low suddenly I would have anxiety attacks.
I'm not sure about the oxycodone...I find it interesting that they put you on an opiate to help you detox off another "opiate) so to speak.
The Valium (depending on the amount you take) can also make you anxietic. For instance if you were taking 30 mgs 3 times daily and then cut it in half you would feel anxiety for a few days. Usually they have you taper off that medication.
I think you should see another doctor and get a 2nd opinion about what they are doing to you!
Good luck
I should have clarified about the oxycodone. I just thought they would wait until your detox was over before determining what type of pain medication you might need. Most of us find that we are in less pain within 2-3 months. It is possible that you may need less pain medication or even a non-opiate medication. I really think you need a doctor who is better informed on how to deal with this type of situation.
Lilly- it's time to call the doctor so he/she can explain all this to you. Don't rely on this forum for answers when we clearly don't have all the information.
It could be that your doctor is trying to transition you from methadone to oxycodone. With Valium and oxycodone on board you shouldn't feel as bad as you do so you really need to speak with your doctor.
You haven't done anything to hurt yourself so don't worry. Just call the doctor and tell him you feel depressed and ask him to explain everything.
Some of the confusion on this end may be about the methadone you took. Most people take methadone as a maintainance drug to combat addiction but you were given it for pain relief. It CAN be given for long term pain relief and often is so it wasn't wrong of the ER doctor to give it to you.
Give the doctor a call and let us know how you're doing, okay?
I have ms also and find myself either in daily pain and unable to do much or on opiates and eventually not able to do much. With ms detox can get more complicated as you won't just experience the withdrawal symptoms, you will also experience the magnification of you ms symptoms. It's almost unbearable cold turkey and could send you into a relapse (depending on your type). I would speak with my doctor. Definitively try to very slowly taper your use of the oxycodone first before you even consider changing the Valium dosage. One at a time. And the Valium will actually help with some of your withdrawal symptoms from the oxycodone. Once you are able to stop that then concentrate on tapering the Valium. But be honest about your pain level, you might need alternate pain management. I have found detox is longer for me than others, probably because of the ms.
Also opiated are opiates. Some are stronger than others. Essentially oxycodone is the same as methadone. So you aren't detoxing off methadone since you haven't taken that in some time. It's out of ur body. You didn't experience detox because the doctors replaced the methadone with another opiate the oxycodone. So you now have to come off oxycodone, which from what I hear is an easier detox than methadone anyway. Hope I make sense :-) best of luck and let us know how you are doing
Tomorrow at 2 pm I am checking into a detox place. They said they will help me get off the Valium and the oxidcodone. I don't know how long they said it can be up to 28 days long. My insurance although has referred others to this detox is not going to refer me so I am maxing all my credit cards a nd borrowing from my parents. I can't do this alone anymore. This has been almost 1 year of my life I missed my daughters wedding. I am afraid. They said I will be drug free when I leave there . No subs or bup. I pray they can really help me at least make me more comfortable while detoxing instead of at home alone.
I can't do this alone anymore. I am checking into a detox tomorrow. My drs expected me to taper one pill a week while suffering with this depression and anxiety. I am alone except for you and this site. If you don't hear from me it's cause I can't contact you but I will be thinking of you the whole time. You can do this. You have people who care about you. I have faith in you. I just don't want to give up another 9 months of my life slowly and painfully withdrawing from the Valium and oxidcodone that horrible dr put me on . I am scared they said the first couple weeks are the hardest they do not use any addictive drugs to help you. So I will be totally ff everything witching 2weeks to 28 days. Hang in there you are strong.
Wishing you well, Lilly. I hope you get the help you need and will look forward to hearing from you when you return home.
God bless you, girl~
