My neighbors husband went to rehab

My neighbor is the young lady that thought her husband was on heroin after coming back from Iraq. There was alot of people coming and going at her house late yesterday afternoon and into the night. She told me this morning that his family also suspected there was a problem and he agreed to go into rehab. The good thing is that he works for the family business so he doesn't have to worry about his job and they have enough money that she told me he is at a very good rehab place. It's a few hours from where we live but I don't think he can have any visitors for the first few weeks.

I asked if our shopping trip was still on for this weekend and she said yes. I'm stunned at how fast they got him into a rehab place but I guess if you have the money, it works that way. Which seems so unfair to the people that don't have the money. She seems relieved but she told me she is concerned about what happens when he comes home. I told her the fact that he was willing to go was a good sign and to try to relax.

I have a good feeling that this story will have a good ending :)

Jules

Great.  I never did get the drug he was using.  Was she correct about heroin?

Wow that was fast but it is definitely for the best. That is great that they have family to support them through this. Support makes all the difference in the world I've come to realize. We can't do it all on our own. Maybe while he is in rehab she can also get some support and knowledge about what's to come when he gets out. The more she knows the more she can help him get through this. It will be a lifelong battle. Kudos to you for being there for her.

On a lighter note, have a great time shopping! The prescription for the day is laughter. It's the best medicine.

My ex relapsed twice in the last 2 years while we were dating so he says he is clean now but doesn't really look it, that is why I finally took a stand and left him, he relapsed just before our wedding so I called it off.  I hope he gets clean but he only went to rehab for 5 days and I'm not sure that that will be enough...he needs to get out of his home environment, it's very enabling...long drawn out story.

I agree don't tell her it's going to be a long hard road I wouldn't want to discourage her, I"m sure they will help her too at the rehab center.  again good luck, and I'm here if either of you ever need to talk.  -Kate

She is so happy he went to rehab and I'm not going to tell her it will be a long hard road. I'm sure the rehab place will let her know what to expect and I will leave it in the hands of the professionals.

Did your ex get clean?

That is so great that he went to rehab and that he was willing to go, just from experience with my ex if it was heroin it's going to be  long hard road for him so hopefully he will take rehab serious and be willing to stick with meetings and aftercare when he gets out.

I will def. pray for the both of them and wish them luck....keep posting and let us know how it goes!
