Hi and welcome ! I too was taking Ritalin for ADHD about 15 years ago . It worked for awhile then it started to make me anxious and paranoid . I was taking 20mgs three times a day . When I called my UCLA doctor from the adult ADHD clinic on campus he at first just cut my dose . Turn the clock ahead about two weeks . I was still not doing well on it so I had him paged on the weekend and when he called me back he sounded quite annoyed and told me just to stop ! Big mistake ! There is a warning on the manufacturers web site warning about stopping Ritalin abruptly . About 4 days after stopping it I was in the bathtub early in the morning before work when a wave of panic came over me to were I jumped out of the bath . It passed and I thought that was strange since I never had panic attacks in my life . The next day it hit again and not knowing what was happening to me I was crippled with fear . Long story short I lost 20lbs. in two weeks and spent a night in the psych ward because I thought I was losing my mind when in fact it was Ritalin withdrawals . But of course I didn't know that until I got to the psychiatrist and it all started to make sense . What I am telling you is PLEASE stop Ritalin under a doctors care . AS for relief I was feeling pretty well after about two weeks . Where you prescribed this for ADHD ? If so they should wean you down ..You will be fine I promise ! It just takes some time . Jimmy
Thank you, Jimmy. This makes so much sense!
You're welcome . I know its tough but at least you have an idea of what's going on ..Jimmy
