Hi,
days 3-4 are when the physical symptoms are said to peak in intensity and then it gradually gets easier and better after day 5.  I had the muscle aches as well.  Hang on, you are already past the halfway mark of the physical detox!  And just think, you will NEVER ever ever ever have to go through this again as long as u keep those pills out of your system.  It's a small price to pay for a mind, body & life free from pill slavery!  You are doing great.

There's absolutely no point in beating yourself up over this.  Live and learn right?  Most of us make this mistake but you caught yourself right away.

You dust yourself off, get up and keep moving forward.  As sarah mentioned, the rebound pain happens to a lot of us (me included) and mine subsided a lot with time so give it a chance.  Try the hot showers, baths and the OTC stuff - it really does work great for pain.  Epsom salts too - they helped a TON with the body aches.

Now get back on track - you'll get there :)

Well I'm really pissed off at myself. I gave in last night and at around 1:30 a.m. got up after fighting my neck pain and took A PILL!!! total in the last 18hrs has been 2-pills. So i gave them ALL!!! to my husband so i can't get to them plus not sure why but got REALLY!!! sick to my stomach after taking them. Even with food. YUCK!!! maybe that's a good thing. My husband has a lot of back pain and he uses them. NOT ABUSES!! them at all like myself. I must say i layed wide awake in bed for atleast 2-hours before giving in. The pain was REALLY!!!! bad. Oh and after taking the 1-pill it didn't even do much for the pain and i WON'T!! and can't take more than one. I would be over the toilet if i did that. RALPHING!!!:((( please keep the positive words coming. I really need them!!!!!!!!

When you take opiates for too long the sensation of pain often increases. This is because opiates eventually reduce your brain's natural ability to ease pain. The brain has natural pain surpression chemicals that are greatly reduced when replaced by opiate feel good chemicals. When you stop opiates you are left with few feel good chemicals for a while until your brain replentishes it's natural feel good chemicals again. When I stopped opiates I had a sore hip that I thought might need surgery but within a few months of being opiate free the pain was gone becasue my brain's natural ability to surpress pain had returned...

You will feel rebound pain right now.  Usually the pain lessens the longer you go.  It is just your brains way of messing with you right now.  Your doing great so keep it going~

The emotional and mental part of w/d was the worst part for me. And yes, this is def part of detox w/d. It absolutely gets better but it will take some time. Be patient and try to create a distraction so you're not concentrating on your symptoms all day and nite. Hot baths and hot showers were a life savor for me. Sometimes I'd take 3-4 per day. 4 days is a great accomplishment! Stay strong and you will make it! Day 121 here. Freedom from pills is def achievable! Good luc and good health to you!

Ok. So today is day 4- and I'm feeling like i either want to bite someones head off or cry. I can't control my emotions. My poor Husband is taking the brunt of all this!! I'm RAGING!!! today. Please tell me this is part of W-D. At least I'll know why I'm feeling this way. One minute I'm happy and really proud of myself then the next I'm down and bored with myself. GS!!! Lawize when will this all end?????

You can also try capsaicin it's an OTC cream, do not get the extra strength, it burns, but the regular works real good on muscle pain.

Hey, hang in there you will feel better, if not go for a massage or to a chiropractor, I went for a massage and the girl told me my neck was off, I went to the chiropractor and got alot of relief. Also advil liquid gels work good and fast. You may want to try ice as well, if there's any inflammation the ice will help. Keep going and Congrats on day 3!!

Hi Debbie, during wd your muscles tighten up from all the stress and anxiety, our poor bodies go through the ringer when we are coming off these pills.  Also, you are going to "FEEL" allot of things from emotionally to physically, because you are no longer numbing it up with the pills, it does get better.  It takes time, as addicts we want immediate gratification but unfortunately thats not reality, it will get better over time, in the meantime continue with the OTC's and a hot bath.  Maybe even treat yourself to a nice massage once you reach a goal of yours.  Good luck

Yes the body aches, and the pains you're having, are a HUGE part of withdrawal - especially that first week or so.  It wasn't so much my shoulders, but it was my upper arms that hurt SO bad after I quit.  It subsided with time and became easily treated with OTC stuff.

Don't worry - it's normal!!

Do you personaly think this is part of the withdrawl. Or just from sleeping wrong. I'll take ANY!! input from anyone out there. It has never lasted this long from sleeping wrong. So I'm thinking it might be part of MY!!:(( withdrawl process. I sure hope that's what it is. My whole body hurts today:((
