Need HELP!

Ok everyone., I am new here and was googling the withdraw symptoms and how long this crap will last and stumbled upon this.
Here is the situation,
I was prescribed Hydrocodone 750mg for about 6 months 6 times a day (back injury from a real bad car accident). Then I started needing more of a pain killer because my body was getting used (and probably addicted) to it so I went in and asked for something else. The doctor gave me Norco 1000mg 4/day. Ok, well three years later here I am, kicking it in the *** once and for all. I am done being in a daze all the time, sleeping 4 times a day and am scared my son is going to grow up without a mom. So what I need to know is how long does the withdraw symptoms stick around? I am on day three and have a massive headache, been in the bathroom ten times today, every joint in my body hurts, no energy and very very emotional. It cant last more than a few days...right? Please tell me I am right...

Thanks Bob! Ugh, I tell ya...the last few years were a total blur. I pretty much missed some of the great milestones my son accomplished due to the drugs. I will never forgive myself for that...ever. But I learned my lesson, wont happen again. Nope. Nope NOPE!

Hey again,

That took a lot of guts to cancel that script and it shows how serious you are about stopping the madness.  You are to be commended for taking such a big step to getting clean.

Is it any wonder that they use sleep deprivation for torture???  ha ha  I too remember many days without sleeping and it drives you crazy.  I am very happy for you that the physical suffering is over.

Again, fantastic job.  You should be incredibly proud of yourself not only for what you have accomplished but for the example you have shown to those considering taking this journey.

Congrats on regaining your freedom, you are so deserving.
Crazy happy for you!!!!!!

Again, you guys are the best. I called the pharmacy and I told them to cancel the script and to never allow me to pick them up again. They somehow understood completely lol.

The doctor that I went to gives scripts out for narcotics like its candy. Instead of finding out what the problem is, he gives you drugs. I think his days are over. It blows my mind how quick they are to give you a controlled substance!

The academy does not test for that. Probably because I was already drug tested for the fire department a year ago (10 panel test) and it all came out negative. So valium must not have been in that specific test.

Darn, I will not forget the first two nights of total insomnia. I mean, I was up for 48 hours strait and couldn't sleep because of the pain. I am sooo glad that this is over.

Hey,

Congrats on your success thus far.  You need to cancel those refills or they're going to start calling your name.  You need to cut off every possible connection to your doc.

Staying active is the best thing you can do!!!

Some people reading your story will decide they too might be able to do this because you are showing them that it can be done.

Great job!!!!!

Hi,

Glad you're doing well.

Will you be drug tested at the Fire Academy?

I only ask because Valium will show up in a benzo screen, so if you are getting tested you should tell them beforehand.

Congratulations on kicking it, and good luck in this next new phase of your life.

Take care

Thank you guys so much! I am on day 10 now and I think I have officially finished with the withdraw. HOWEVER, I still have three refills left at the pharmacy...I could not believe that I took 90 pills in 2 weeks. I was such an idiot! I cannot CANNOT get those refilled. But then again it would be nice to have when "that time of the month" comes but I will resort to taking more and more, I just know it.
My doctor had prescribed me Valium 10mg for sleep a year ago (I suffer insomnia) and that got me through it I think.
But I gotta say, I have never been so active in my life. I was a big marathon runner and then got addicted to this crap and stopped running, everything. I start the fire academy next week and I have to be clean for it...this is very serious for me and nothing is going to hold me back. Thank you guys SO Much for your advice.

Great going. Keep it up.

Valerian Tincture will help you sleep. 5HTP is a natural amino acid which will calm you down, ease the withdrawals and help you sleep. They're safe and not habit forming and you don't need a prescription. You can order online or get them from a health food store.

Hang in there,

Take care.

The worst should be coming to a close.  When I went cold turkey I had serious runs for about seven days.  Immodium helps a lot there.  It never dawned on me to take it but the stuff works.

Stay Strong!

I am here with you, I want to be a good exanple for my kids.  I know how hard it is to be a mom and have wd.  The worst is over for you as far as wd pain.  I alsways seem to go back to the **** after day six because I need to be this super great football, soccer mom ya know.  The thing that has helped me the most with wd is vailum or xanex it just takes the edge off and helps the stomach pains.  Keep a positive attitude and get outside and walk just a little.  I managmed to play with my kids all day yesterday even though I felt so horrible.  Today I am veggin.  You are making the right choice I know for me it is how do we stay away from it? I took a naproxen for leg pains kinda helped.  Eat what you grave. Best wishes.

Hi~

All of this is normal and you should turn the corner by day four!  You won't feel great but you'll be better.
Get some Immodium. Start taking vitamins and minerals.
DRINK!
Motrin 8oomg up to 3x a day.
Hot baths REALLY help.

Call your doctor and tell him about this. There are meds he/she can give you to keep you more comfortable.
