34 days into this

I have been tapering my use for 34 days Started with 10 to 12 Lortab 10/500 a day 34 days later I am taking 1/4 of a pill 4 times a day. I have The cravings under control but the sleeping is starting to get harder. Jumpy legs, fingers ect. A couple days ago I said to heck with this and stopped taken the pills I made it till 1 am and thought I was going to jump out of my skin and took a 1/4 of a pill and 30 min later was able to fall a sleep for 4 hrs. So after that i went back to the 1/4 4 times a day. My bowels are returning to normall and thats a huge plus after being constipated for 2 yrs. But my question is will i be able to keep tappering down to the point where I wont have those horrid feelings the taste I had the other night was very scary to me and I and willing to suffer longer if I can avoid the hard crash at the end. Any suggestions would be nice. This forum has helpped me so much the success stories and the nightmares have motivated me to keep going forward and to that I am thankful.

thank you all for the honesty and the truth I operate better with all the facts. Since all this started my wife has been offerd a new job in a new state and there is a good chance she will take it (30 % salary increase ) hard to turn down. So having to move and sell a house buy a house I may need to keep a even keel for a while. My plan is to continue at the level I at now and tapper even slower I want it to be over now but dont want to stress out and have it all be for nothing . Dont want to F up the wife dreams she is so good to me and has helped me through all this. It will take atleast 60 days before we all could move there so my goal is to be pill free in the new home. I come here every day for my daily dose of where I dont want to be and where I want to end up it is so ironic that I find both here. You are all my champions and as always I will owe you debt I will try to repay every day.

It's very nice to see yet another so doggedly determined to take care of business.  Of course you can continue with the taper but it's not likely to make much more of a difference.

You are at a very low dose now.  By getting so low, you have reduced your suffering considerably but unfortunately, it can't be totally eliminated.  You can DO this.

Don't get freaked out about stopping.  We often let our minds drive us a little crazy when we jump but you are making a positive life altering decision.  Hang in there and keep reading and posting and telling yourself everything is normal and TEMPORARY.

You are an example to follow for many here reading.

Congrats on getting your life back!!!!

You have done an incredible job with your tapering which shows you have what it takes.  Unfortunately, there is no way completely around the piper who collects a withdrawal fee at the end of the road, everyone at one point must pay him after jumping.

In retrospect, the fear for me was much worse than the acutal experience.  Not to say that it will be a cake walk, it was rough sledding, but very much something that can be done.  I pride myself on being a thinker and thought I could plan and prepare my way through it, but soon I realized that it is more a matter of not doing something than doing it.

Not being fearful, not being tense, not trying to rush recovery, etc.....and oh yeah, the big one...not doing any pills/drugs(smile).   I wish you the best with your recovery.  Keep coming to the site and getting informed and motivated.

Hi, newlife..

are you taking any supplements or any help with you sleep ?

there suggestions can help you with muscles cramps and RLS:

some magnessium+calcium , potassium supplements
Hylands restful legs natural remedy
hot baths with epsom salts
potassium rich food like bananas, apple juice, raisins, spinach, nutcrackers
tonic water ( it has quinine on it )

you can try melatonin to help you with sleep, it is not habit forming and you should take it in the dark, this is the way it works....valerian root can also help you here and with anxiety...

Good luck :)

HI welcome to the forum....well it sounds like you have done about as much damage control as you can with your taper...there is no way to completely avoid the withdrawal but yours will be minumised as much as possible...it time to make the jump and get it over with...
try not to let fear into the equation ..its always worst in our minds then it actually is going to be...yes its uncomfortable but its also very doable...I have done it and I have watched many on here do it also...go into this with a positive attitude when its done and over you wont be chained to a pill bottle any more...get comfortable with the saying ""you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile....it a lot like ketching the flu the symptoms are similar with some added anxiety and in about a week you will be feeling a lot better...look up the thomas recipe and get the stuff it recommends you will find it under the health pages to the right of the screen..remember this is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental be ready to fight on both fronts...my favorite therapy is a good hot soak in the tub this helps with a lot of the symptoms...keep posting for support we all want to see you succeed good luck and God bless....Gnarly
