Karli, Congrats on decision to quit. Like Brian said, Clonidine can help but Dr. should know and advise. I used it and it is non addictive. I would advise you to go cold turkey since you have already weaned down. You will feel like you have the flu for 3-5 days and starts easing from there. The amino acid protocol and the Thomas Recipe are helpful.. First few days.. Immodium, lots of hot soaks or showers, lots of water, gatorade, good multi vitamin, combo Mag-cal-zinc supplement, Hylands restfuls legs and motrin or advil for pain if needed. Sleep when you can and catch up on old movies, puzzles etc. after day 3, I started exercising as much as possible.. Mainly walking and it helped the most..
Hang on to what you said about your child and husband and the rest of your young life.. one bad week and you can be on track to a second chance at life without any pills. I am living proof. It helps to post and read other's post during the WD stage.. You can do this and should do it.. for you and your family. Good luck and God Bless. Andrew
Congrats on wanting to get off of the pills. Clonodine can help but you have to be careful with it. You should be being monitored by a doctor while taking it as it can cause your blood pressure to drop too low.
Check out the health pages and look for the amino acid protocol. It lists a bunch of supplements to take to help your body recover faster. They really do help. Also be sure to exercise, eat healthy and push the fluids. It will help speed up the process.
You have to cut off all ties that have to do with pills. That means canceling scripts, telling your doctor no more, deleting numbers from your phone from people you get pills from, etc. When going through withdrawals it can be too tempting if you know all it will take is a phone call to get more.
Be sure to post here and post often. Many will help you make it through.
Hang in there. You are doing a great thing here. If you need anything, just ask!
Best of luck!
Brian
