Hang in there SandraW90.  It will pass and you are doing great!  Deep breaths, hot showers and some exercise would help.  L-Tyrosine worked for me with the energy, but I did not want to take anything for depression as they I was simply taking another pill, but if it gets unbearable talk to your doctor.  The B12's and B6's also help lift you up a bit.  Keep up the great work as you are doing an amazing job!

It's the physical detox and it can vary from person to person but the symptoms you're experiencing are common.  Try a hot shower or a walk outside to calm yourself down.  It will help.

Google Gabapentin and read about it, I just did. There is positive & negative that I've read. A short therapy with a mild dose might be ok but it already has you scared, that does not sound like much help. That Vicodin gave you lots of energy and put you in a good mood until it caused enough trouble to make you stop. You have to go through a time of the opposite effect of no energy and bad mood for a while but it will pass, the depression will lift and you will get your energy back. Your brain knows how to heal and is doing that right now being drug free. For me, there is no way I would experiment with Gabapentin or anything else. I have recovered twice from opiates, I know the feeling of being stuck in deppresion and no energy feeling like it will never end, but it does end.

It can be Tough.. Trust me.. Ima knowin... I'm 11 days off of 75mcg Fentanyl patches plus lots of other nasty opiates. But I honestly BELIVE if you are an addict it's much harder to taper... But hell idk... Who am I!? My pain doctor called and asked my wife why I missed my appointment. She told her that he said he is stopping ALL opioid pain medicine... She said that I was crazy and that I need to be checked in if I decide to go CT. Well 11 days later I'm alive. Worst hell of my existence.. 4 days of flopping and convulsing with horrible pain.. Omg... Then it got even WORSE!'  but I held on to my *** and got through the worst of it.. I still have a lot of symptoms but I'm going to make it. H withdrawal ain't got nothing on fent.. I woulda been done with it by now.. So hydro isn't even as strong as a low dose breakthrough pain medicine I was taking. You can do it!!! I'm not minamizing your problem but if it don't stop now then it gets worse... Much much worse. Best of luck. CT is the way to go!

Congratulations sandra! I'm with the others, that stuff is out of your system, no sense in doing a taper now and going through any withdrawal again. Try the supplements suggested and also, if you don't already, get some exercise! Start small at first and work your way up, you don't have to run a marathon ;) Getting your body moving will help your body produce those natural feel good chemicals. Plus you'll look and feel better for bathing suit season!

You hang on. I tried to go ct with tramadol and after day 4 i couldn't handle it so i got my script and tapered off. I get what your going thru. You should be through the worst of it now. Your symptoms are common with detox. I"ve read on here it can take months to be normal. I tapered myself off and so far no dt's. Stay clean and take good care of yourself. Some people get help for the depression everyone is differant. Keep talking and asking for help. My AA mind says get on here and help someone else it's a win...win!

Hi Sandra,

I am 33 days off of the hydro myself.  I really believe that exercise, quality diet, good protein/amino acid supplements are key.  Do not forget a good multivitamin.  Your doing great, and cold turkey has nothing to do with it.  It will just take time to heal that brain up and get it back to normal.  Be proud of yourself, a month is fantastic!  You'll get where you want to be, just keep plugging.

Your welcome Sandra glad I could help. I was clean from Darvocet and then started playing with Percocet here and there, very light usage for a short time and it put me on my knees real quick. I have been clean from Darvocet for 104 days and 48 days since the last Percocet. It was only 3 days ago that I had brief moments of feeling my old self again what a relief. This is the 3rd time I am recovering and it takes me around a month and a half or so to start feeling good again, that's why I think you will be turning the corner soon with your month clean. On opiates you send your brain's natural feel good chemicals on 'vacation' When you stop opiates you don't have them for a while, that is why you feel depressed, staying clean makes your brain realize it's not getting opiates anymore and will bring those natural feel good chemicals back from vacation. Focus on patience and peace knowing you will feel much better soon. If there is anything else I can help you with let me know... :)

Cold turkey is just fine. CT means more pain for less time & tapering means less pain for a longer time, it all equals to about the same. I think people have more success with CT. With a month clean already there is no sense in starting a taper now. Since you have a month clean you will start feeling pretty good soon, don't give up now, bad sleep & depression is very common a month in, it is your body healing, you have to feel bad to feel good again and the worst part is over, the deppresion will go away soon. Try to be peaceful and patient, you can't rush this healing, it comes it it's own time and that will be soon for you, be thankful for your one month and stay the course you'll be amazed how good you start feeling soon just hang in there, peace...

Hi and welcome. I'm not sure. Maybe u should try and look up the amino acid protocol and some of those things will help give u more energy. That stuff should be out of ur system now so it could be mental. Are u taking a multivitamin??? I got the new one a day active metabolism. Wow!!! Plus I'm doing b12 complex injections. These are a few things that may help. Are u eating enough??? Just a few things to think of. Hope it helps and great job on CT for a month. Good job. But don't think of tapering now that ur off ok. Try some of the things on the lower right side of the screen ok. Good luck
