New Problem!

When I try to go to sleep at night, as I am falling asleep my body twitches. I don't mean shivers. I mean that an arm, leg, hand, or even my head will all of a sudden twitch. Sometimes it will be a hard jerk. Have any of you guys experienced this? I am a couple of weeks into detox. Most of the chills have gone away, but the jerks are bad. My leg has even drawn up for a couple of seconds. Is this normal in the detox process?

Agree with princessj's post. Also try alot of banannas, sports drinks high in potassium and exercise during the day as much as you can. These can also be helpful.  Corey

A non-medicinal way to help with the muscle twitches and such is a hot bath. Make it as warm as you can without hurting yourself and it seems to settle the muscles somewhat.  May only help you grab an hour of sleep but an hour is better than none.  In the early days I find myself having two or three baths a night and have actually fallen asleep in the tub.

Sorry your post was not answrwed. The forum is slower on the weekends as many members are spending time with their families. It is very normal for your legs to twitch and draw up. RSL (Restless Leg Syndrome) is part of opiate withdrawl. I have experienced twitches in other parts of my body...esp. falling asleep, but none were as bad as the legs twitching. Hope this helps. It will bump your post up and others who might have experienced this may see it. Good luck in your recovery. GBU, Corey
