New and needing advice

Hi everyone..I have been dealing with Firbromyalgia for 10 years now and for the past year and half I have been on the Fentanyl patch. I am currently on 50 m every 3 days. I want to get off  of these badly! I'm sick of the side effects like not sleeping and weight gain.... I feel like I need to just clean my body out of all of it and see where I'm at with the pain. I don't even know! I have run out of the patches too soon before due to using too many too soon and the withdrawl was more than I thought I could bear. I also am prescribed 30 7.5/500 vicodins every month for breakthrough pain. What do I need to do to get off these without the withdrawl? Do I need to go down to 25 and then 12? For how long? ANY advice would be appreciated! I;m so sick of being a slave to this stuff. HELP!

is it possible to taper with the patch?  how?  asking because i really dont know anything about it?

Welcome.I don't know about the patch, but I am tapering off vics...I stayed @4  7.5 for (2 pills twic e/dayfor a while.....then i took 3 the next day( 2 in a.m., 1 in p.m, and i continued to cut out 1/2 pill every few days. I am now taking 1/2 about every 9-10 hrs.  My plan is the lat half on wed.....(and I'll be out of pills). The wd(withdrawls) hav ebeen minimal...but going from 4 to 3 they were a little stronger. Take hot baths for the crawly restlss legs and muscle aches and pain. Drink lots of water, hot tea helps soothe also. If you have a heating pad you can put that on your calves. You may also experience diarrhea or headaches, but if you taper slow maybe not. I have the headaches, but haven't had any diarrhea as opposed to going ct(coldturkey).Gator ade...there is a recipe of things to use to minimize wd symptoms...it's called Thomas recipe. I started my taper on Sunday(4 pills) and so it will take me 1 1/2 wks. let me know if i can be of any other help.

hello...i too have fibromyalgia...but unfortunately i am unfamiliar with the fentanyl patch, so i dont dare give advice about something i am unfamiliar with...but just hang in there, i am sure someone who has the knowledge will chime in soon for you...good luck hun...
