Norco & Perc Addiction

Hello all, I am 24 that has had a 1 1/2 - 2 year addiction to Norcos & Percs, about 5 a day. I was prescribed them for my migraines from my Neurologist, it was a last resort Rx since no other migraine med has worked. I mean NOTHING!
I pretty much had to go cold turkey a few days ago, this morning was hell! The cold & hot spells are pretty annoying, but the pain in my lower back & hips are just unbearable, along with going to the bathroom all the time.
I have been able to sleep, I would just wake up every couple of hours and be able to fall back asleep.
I called my Neuro to let him know that I am detoxing. He did prescribe more Norcos so I wouldn't be going cold turkey.
I hate myself right now, just because I couldn't just get off of them. I have never had such a dependency to something like these. I was able to quit smoking cold turkey, along with weed & cocaine. I hope taking less & less overtime will be easier!

Well, the only reason why I would do a slow taper is because of my Migraine problems. My Nuero has suggested botox, it has worked on my mom for her migraines, so maybe there is hope for me & I can kick this horrible habit of mine!
I do have a very supportive boyfriend, he understands my problem & is helping me through it!
He put a few Norcos out on our bathroom counter yesterday & hid the Rx bottle.
I hope I can get through this process & find some other remedy for the horrible migraines!
Thanks All!

Sometimes, taking less and less just drags out the withdrawal unless you do a very slow taper. I mean months!  Can you do that?  Can you put yourself on a good taper plan(from your doctor) and have someone hand out the pills to you?

Good luck and keep posting!

hi , and welcome some can do a taper to get off pain meds, but others do cold turkey, you need to be very strict with yourself and have loads of will power to taper,  there are things that can help you through withdrawal, like imodium for any stomache problems, valerian root to help you relax, also you can buy melatonin to help with sleep, hot baths or showers with epsom salts, drink plenty of fluids, if you look at the health pages, top right hand corner, you will find the thomas recipe , it has lots of things to help you, good luck with what ever you decide, take care and keep posting, you will get a lot of help on here.
