Not a question - gabpentin does reduce the effects of cocaine

Since I started taking gabpentin for nerve issues I havd noticed a decline in my cravings for crack cocaine. In addition when I do use I do get high - so it appears if this continues I will hopefully be able to put that pipe down forever - at least I hope. Relapsed Nov 2011 after 3yrs sobriety and this has been the worst relapse ever using as much 400 dollars a day - went through my savings still smoking 100 a day but this is a breakthrough I hadn't expected though so far I am thrilled with the possibility of complete abstinence again

GABAPENTIN does help with the withdrawals. I currently take pains for years and when I run out I go through the withdrawals. Now that I take Gabapentin the withdrawals have stop. Thank God.

I was prescribed gabapentin for nerve pain once I decided to stop taking pain meds. I noticed that it helped with some of the withdrawal symptoms. It didn't completely take them away but they weren't as severe. It really helped with rls and a little bit with sleep. I've heard others say it helped them with opiate withdrawals also.

Good for you...anything that helps is great. I currently take gabapentin 4 times per day (300mg) and I use Dilaudid daily. When I run out before I pick up my next script I find that Gabapentin really helps with the restless legs, sleep etc. It is almost like a universal drug. I heard that Gabapentin used to be used for Opiate withdrawl but I can't remenber where I heard that from. WEhat have you headr about Gabapentin and it's uses? If you could let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks and I wish you all the luck in your carck addiction...J

Great!  Now try to back that up with some kind of recovery care,AA, anything to support your sobriety. It's such a particularly hard drug and wreaks havoc with your brain so do everything you can!
Keep posting here, there's much support!
