OXY ADDICTION

by Ijustwannahelphim, Nov 01, 2009 10:02PM
I have a very close friend who I have known for most of my life, he just recently (within the last three months) revealed to me that he is addicted to oxy. For a while now I have been in such a state of shock that I didn't really process what he told me. Now I realize just how horrible a situation he is in, he smokes it at least twice a week and if he has the money buys multiple pills and smokes them all in the same day. I am in the process of trying to find some help for him but the major problem is money. We don't have alot and we are both still in highschool (seniors) so I really want him to finish out the year before he goes to rehab where they will most likely put him on lockdown. I really just want any advice on helping him ease off the drug until he can get rehab. Also if you have any information on cheap rehab facilities that would help us a great deal. Thankyou so much for your time.

okay if we only smokes it a couple times a week when he has the money, he prob has a mentall addiction and not YET a physicall addiction, he needs to stay away from people, places and things that make him wanna use. You two are so young and have MUCH to learn...stay young, and innocent...you can only help him by doing the things HE is WILLING to do!! See if he were TRUELY addicted he would be doing it EVERY DAY and on the days it were impossible for him to do he would be withdrawaling and tryin beyond belief to get it! So if you two are smart and willing to work HARD now to put some distance between him and his friends//connections//drugs you two will prob be lucky enough to escape this and learn from it. Good luck and PM me if you need anything!

Sorry  dear  you  are in for a LONG haul,  if I read your post correctly, he will use a few times a week,  or will use several times a day, when he had enough oxy to do  so....   just like every oxy addict  they will smoke every friggin pill   whether it be in a day or a "few times a week".......    the manipulation is beyond anything I have been able to comprehend.......    my daughter is a hard core  oxy addict  and whether she used 3 times a week  or  all day long,  depending  on what she could steal cheat and manipulate....  but because your friend goes a few days without using , is not a big deal,  DOES NOT mean he is not an addict,    the  hard core  oxy addicts are sleeping during that time......

Your friend as well as you, need to accept how horrid this addiction is, and what you and he/she are willing to do to be clean......    good luck  to you

I am sorry I didnt answer your question,  I have seen too many young ones die from this epidemic............   please contact your state and county agencies for in-patient treatment. You are both seniors in high school,  please   have him  talk to his parents  I assume they have insurance,  and as bad as this sounds  one of the big problems we have is the cost of treatment......  and your friend should or would still be on his parent's insurance plan   he needs  to get into treatment  ASAP         IF  they dont have insurance call every county agency in your phone book.  Please get help before it gets to the point of no control.   And with this drug    it does.

thank you for your input, it means alot to me. i have since talked to him and we have agreed to put him on a mini lock down, the first step was telling his parents. we approched them and explained the situation and that he wanted help, they then grounded him of course, and took his keys and his phone cutting his ties to his dealers. they then went through his room with him and removed any and all paraphanelia from it and he is working hard to come off completely. he is still withdrawling and he hasnt been in school for a while but i take him all his work and help him get it done, hopefully this will work out well for us.

You are doing a great thing for your friend, seriously..I am not even sure you understand right now but someday you will buddy. I will pray for your friend and hopefully he can clean up before high school is over. I have an oxy problem and it started by being prescribed percocet for a while because of constant back problems and elbow surgeries during my college baseball career which just ended in June. Now I dont have the need to take any type of pain killer cuz my sports career is over and it was harder to stop than i ever expected..i shouldnt really say that because i have known for a while how hard it will be, i just thought i could do it on my own but so far i really havent been able to consistently stop..i can go a few days which is where i am right now, but my stomach is so messed up from the pills that it drives me crazy after a while.  I have never smoked it or even seen it smoked so i dont know if that intensifies the addiction big time, like injecting it does..to be honest im positive its worse to smoke it than to pop them, but idk about sniffing, injecting, smoking vs each other..either way OXY is essentially a pill form of heroin..when u think about it that way it sounds a lot scarier..I have even heard its harder to quit than Heroin, but i have honestly never tried any hardcore drugs other than the pain killers that i somehow continued to take since my doctors allowed it even though i know i was stupid..bottom line is that you have done a great thing!

first of all i want to appreciate this spirit of urs. its good to have friend like u. it may sound philosophical but just try to understand No matter what his present state, man can change for the better through self-control, discipline, and following proper diet and health laws. Why do you think you cannot change? Mental laziness is the secret cause of all weakness. Everyone has self-limiting idiosyncrasies. These were not put into your nature by God, but were created by you. These are what you must change -- by remembering that these habits, peculiar to your nature, are nothing but manifestations of your own thoughts. meditate. yes!! Meditate. believe in god. start yoga. I myself have been addict to spasmo proxyvon having 22 capsules in a day and more. but today i am clean. go to the sgoogle and search for "Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda " and go to the link www.yssofindia.org and read their archives, lessons. if u want then u can. life is what we make of it. search for the purpose of life, nature of ur life. what u need? cant u live without this stuff? u can it will cause u pain but u wont die but u will if u dont leave it.
