Opana anyone?

So, just went to des a week ago because I've tapered down on the vicoprofen to taking a fourth of a pill twice a day, still using Thomas Recipe and still going through withdraws between doses. It's been a month and I am happy to have cut down but the pain is excruciating. Doc prescribes Opana because it is slower release and recommends switching out one of the vico doses for a 10mg Opana for a week, then dropping the vico and moving to the Opana. Still an opioid, but low dose to buy time until the MRI can be done to determine if nerve abulation (deadening the nerves at the base of the spine) is the next course of action, or if total fusion is necessary. Have to admit that so far none of these are appealing to me. I tried the Opana and holy crap, I can't do it. I think it's stronger than the vico and I can't imagine what that detox would be like compared to what I've already been dealing with. And yes, I'm a lightweight and am not dealing with anything near what some of you good people are.

Any experience with Opana? Am I just getting set up for another round of addiction and misery? Is there anything non-opioid, non-narcotic, non-addictive anyone can tell me about?

Thanks for the reply, weaver71. I told my doc I want to get off of opioids or anything else addictive. He wanted me to start using the Opana ER in low doses because it is a slower, longer lasting release unlike the vicoprofen which is immediate release and only lasts 4-5 hours, then the withdraws kick in. I suppose the intent is to reduce the onset of WDs between small doses. The plan is to continually reduce the dosage, but not eliminate the opioids completely until we can find out what is causing the pain and how to address the cause. Makes some sense to me, but I still don't like having to take this type of drug.

Opana, or oxymophone is a huge jump in strength. It has to acetemenophine, but is a much stronger opioid. Why is your doc changing your meds if you are staying on opioids?
