Open Forum?

Couldn't think of anything halfway intelligent to say, soooo. I saw this in a previous title/msg and thought it was interesting.

Personally, drugs, alcohol and ephedrine are my two only everyday, although ephedrine the more I read isn't quite so dangerous, at least not as suspected. (thank goodness I use it wisely!)

Noticed lotsa Stacker 2 commercials on TV, wondering why anyone wqould promote anything that could even be remotely dangerous? I'm mising something I guess.

Oh yea, Open Forum? Hmmm. How about, anything and everything relating to all things that you've ever had any doubts and or thoughts about? Especially when referring to something you've personally encountered and have knowledge first hand about to share with some and or anyone whether or not they asked.

LET IT OUT! An experience? A thought? A memory? A story? Share it, not to gain knowledge, but to share it...

Pretty pathetic eh? I gotta go kick my own ass now, seeya later..

Clonidine (Catapress) by prescription helped my withdrawels from Percs and Vics.  Not sure if it will touch Methadone WDs though.

The clonidine is a med used to lower blood pressure.  So instead of feeling incredibaly crappy from the withdrawels, you feel just a little yucky because your blood pressure is lower than usual.  You'll get frequent head rushes if you get up too fast, and you'll be a little more tired than usual.

But trust me, IT'S WORTH IT.  I feel great now!

How do you get sober?? you have all the meds you need to get sober but your throwing them away!! If you have 10mg methadone, then use that to GET FREE!!! Just take a few of those a day, not 25!!! you should be able to do it without any real withdrawal...................

Christine how are your teeth doing? I understand what you were thinking cause I am like that too I felt ENTITLED to painkillers and lots of them for any painful procedure I endured. The truth is I went to 2 years of dental School( dropped out) No dentist will ever rx more than 2or 3 days worth of narcotics it is just not done. I hope you are doing better i was not trying to pass judgement because I am an active user. Big guy why all the pain for the knee replacement? i had a total hip and needed narcs for the1st 3 weeks but then the pain lessened and I took over the counters. I am 3 months post op and still have a small amount of pain. Are you in a pain clinic? Baddgirl

Hello, new here so forgive me if I step on any toes etc.. If any one has any suggestions please let me know!
About 3 years ago I needed a knee joint replacement. As a result of this surgery I was given moriphine iv, dilaudid iv, duragesic patches, 10mg Norco tabs x3 an hour. At home ms contin 60 mgs 3x a days, and the 30mg of Norco every 3 hours. Doc the just stopped them, hell of W/Drawl. Then I was sent to addiction doctor and given same as before, Norco and MS Contin. I complained, he put me on Buprenex .3mg/ml injections x 12 a day. Real expensive so went to new insurance. And new doctors . now given 40mgs oxycontin 3 times a day, with 7.5 PERCOCET 4 times a day. Then new pain doc puts me on 50mgs of methadone, last 3 months, never stabilized. Well I messed up big last week, I took 150 10mgs methadone in 6 days. No bad affects from it except doctor a little pissed off. Me just alot depressed, Now wife dispenses them for me. at 40mgs a day.
This stuffed has really messed up an already messed up life over three years. I can or will live with the pain,, but how do I get off this suff with out the horrible withdrawls??? Any help, or ideas realy appriciated,, Thanks in advance!!

I am really sorry I thought you were female...well DUDE...LOL...on the other hand, I thank you for all your support...so let's recall my day....I did have some trouble sleeping, that's cause I did take some of those freakin pills..just cause I had to!! I always always have restless nights whenever I have Vicodin in my system...BUT guess WHAT?? I woke up and I felt surprisingly GOOD!! Yep you heard me...I had very little discomfort and was like really happy!!! I am truly amazed because I have had other teeth pulled and they hurt like a B***H...you know? I guess it is ALL in the head...and when we are strong upstaris, we can do just about anything!! I hope my little recap helped out a little..I am glad there are people out there who actually care...I do have my boyfriend and he is all the support I need, but like I told GWH..he doesn't fully understand EXACTLY how I feel...you guys DO...and I am not the least bit embarassed to talk to you guys at all. If I would talk about Vicodin to like him or like to my sister....they just don't understand, not even a little bit!!! So I will be going  for now...Jes thanks again and you ALL are in my prayers tonight as I will be saying one for myself as well!!! Laters.....

Oh my god...irishose, I'll say prayers for Kip, and please let him know I'm thinking of him and hope he's ok.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, sounds like it could have been, but still, it must be extremely uncomfortable.

Shreddi, not a lot has been said on this forum about hearing loss with opiates. I did experience it, and noticed it significantly after I detoxed from a 20-30 pill a day habit. A hearing test showed significant hearing loss, and it has not improved, though I mostly hear fine and it has not gotten worse.

I do think it is a very scary, real possibility. It seems to affect people who take high doses at a time.

good luck!

2 teeth?- everyone is right throw them OUT!!! I recently had 4 pulled-big molars dentist told me the usual no smoking (haha) no eating on that side etc. etc. when I mumbled "anything for pain" the dentist told me that if it still hurts when the freezing comes out to either live with it or go to a walk-in clinic. All that advice for a measly $600.00 (canadian money-$300.00 American). When the freezing finally came out there was very little pain!My only advice for smoking is - smoke on the side that was'nt hurt and most of all throw that poison away!!

may you live long and prosper

Hi, to those who experienced hearing loss using drugs like vicodin.  I just spent all night researching everything I could on it and found this page after looking at 100's of others.  It appears to be the combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.  At least thats what I have read so far.  I was actually looking for advise on getting off of vicodin and opiate related drugs when I found that news.  Being a musician for the past 27+ years and concerned about my hearing going bad not knowing why, this blew my mind.  Well Im quiting sooner than I expected.  They just started to realize it in the 90's (or admitted it as a possibility) and if not for the internet I would probably not of known untill too late cause some went completly deaf.  I did read there are nutrients that induces blood flow to the ear area thats recomended so I sure hope that helps.  Right now im printing out everything I find and asking questions like this.  Since you have quit taking the drugs did your hearing finally stabalize at some point?  I noticed you said it got noticably worste when you stopped.  If you dont mind me asking how many and how long and what caused it.  For myself I love everything opiate and had a big habit so when the black stuff wasnt around it took a ton of prescriptions to get me where I needed.  I tried to stick to diluadid (no acetaminophen) or norco cause it has very little.  For those who wanna call me stupid and moronic I have to agree.  I wish I had known.  I research everything I take but never heard this before.  I notice they do say its rare and so far less than 50 people have been diagnosed.  Who knows maybe its a combination of something else and that we all coincidently did with it.  Any information would really be appreciated.  I only know what Ive read on the internet so far.  Anyway good luck to all and take care.  Thanks very much.

Sometimes at our point of weakness, we need a firm hand.  We really are like children looking for guidance.  I didn't want to seem harsh...and damn it, if I had 3 weeks, I hope you'd say the same thing to me.  I admire your honesty.  3 weeks is an eternity for those of us who are about to wean.  I start tomorrow.  I will need huge support, too.  I also admire the fact that you've been 3 weeks sober, WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT.  I just don't want you to throw it all away over 2 teeth.  I know for a fact that Ibuprofen and clove oil will help just as well. I used to be an oral surgery assistant.

You will do the right thing.  You should be so proud of what you have done the past few weeks.

And I too, have turned to God and my angels for all the support they will allow me to have.  Along with true friends like you guys.

Just promise me that you will be as firm with me in my moments of despair!  LOL

My thoughts will be with you.

Koala,
Thank you soooo much....I know 2 little teeth are not as painful as my heart when it comes down to the true realization of it all!!! I reread my post and began to cry as to how silly I sounded and how sad I can be at times...in the point of weakness we can all be this way!! I AM stronger than those darn things and I know that the toothe thing will be history in a week or so, am I right? I thank you for not coming at me as the others did...they did it for my own good and I realize that now. I sounded so pathetic when I reread my post...how awful...and I am only 25 and have to deal with such a flaw in my personality...when is it going to stop!! I have turned to the Lord in the past 2 or 3 weeks a lot more than I have my whole life. I am Catholic and have made all of my sacrements...the next is marriage!! I better not push it!! LOL...anyway...I have prayed so much lately and have gotten through the main withdrawls...why turn back!!!! I don't need those pills...I am so sorry, I feel as if I embarassed myself completely with what I have said!! I can't undo it, all I can do is be strong, suck it up, and face reality!! For one day I will overcome this completely and it will be all just a memory!! So Koala..I thank you for such kind words...and I am sorry for embarassing myself..how terrible we can be when it comes to something we have no control over...wait actually we do...as GWH says...it is ALL DOABLE...also thanks to the girls who opened up my desperate eyes to something so silly....thanks....and until next time....laters
P.S.- I need to keep saying to myself...I will not let this little tiny little thing/pill/whatever ruin nor run my life!!!!!Chrisrine

If you've been sober for 3 weeks...get rid of them.  You don't need them..you are a lot stronger than that!  We all know you can do it.  Anything for pain non narcotic.  Please Vette, don't slip now when you've done so well. We have faith in you that you will do the right thing.  3 weeks is awesome!  Don't throw it away now.  A lot of us when we get off will have to deal with pain of some sort.  If you get dry socket, try clove oil.  That will numb it so you won't feel anything.  Put it in with a syringe.

You can do it.  You are stronger than those Vicodins.  Just think of the 3 weeks you've already endured.....

Make us proud.

Geez!

All I can say is thank God that the cable didn't scratch the LENS of your eye, Skip. Yes, you sure did beat me to the Eye doctor, Hahaha.. Funny how life throws in those little ironic moments. I'll bet the doctors offered you a couple Tylenol 3's for the pain too. I would've been demanding 50 Mgs of demerol right up the Vein! (Eye injuries hurt like a MutherFu*ker, for those of you who've never had one...)

Irishrose- take good care of the Skipper tonight... I still want us to meet sometime soon!

Skipper- No more playing "Cowboy"" with that rj45 cable! ya hear?

Get well!

Hi Jess and all, I don't meant to hijack this thread, peace to all of you struggling with the Dragon tonight. I am posting for Skipper. He got hurt at work today. He was pulling cable through a ceiling at work and it got away from him and whipped him in the eye, knocking his glasses off and lacerating his eye. We went to ER where he was poked, prodded, and gawked at by a crew of residents and students but given very little for pain. He has a laceration to the sclera , the white part of the eye, fortunately they don't think it will affect his visual field at all but it hurts like a mother. He has to be followed up by the opthalmologist tomorrow to determine if anything further needs to be done. So say a little prayer for Skipper.  If he could see to type tonight he'd tell all of you to.......

keep an angel on your shoulder,

let's hope there is one on his!

Irishrose
P.S. Jesse he says he guesses he beat you to the eye doctor!

I see your point girl...I know I should just throw them out, but the thing is....UUUGGGGHHHHH...I don't know, you're righ tI guess!! Actually you are very right!!! I should just grin an bear it tomorrow and throw all 6 pills I have left..it is so not worth my time...I am just scared to be in trye pain, and my use in the past is and was totally legit....I have never used when pain wasn't there..I was just operarted on 2 months ago which resulted from a MVA 2 yrs ago...and just got caught up in the  Vicodin thing.  I am a legit user as WELL AS an addict...I get you points and thank you sooooo much for helping me realize I am crying over some stupid little pills and why oh why do I want to start all over? I needed a wake up call and you did that for me!! Thanks so much, boy oh boy how weak we become when this DEVIL is on our backs, right? I need to hear something good from you girls right now...Thanks...

Ok girls, I see exactly what you are saying. The thng is what IF I have more pain then just 2 days...what I am saying is WHY give the bear minimum and not a supply that isn't too much yet isn't too little...the doc made it clear that 10 is plenty...and I am more concerned about dry socket...being that I have had it every other time and I smoke (I know I know)...my pain went on for almost 1 and a half weeks...and all I have is a day or so of a supply of pills...what I want is clearly to be pain free...given I am 3 weeks clean, I didn't want 100 pills...I just thougth 30 would be sufficient!! I am not trying to be hasty in anyway in this response..none what's so ever, I am just tryin to get a true answer to my situation...So I am sorry if you girls take any offense to my statement, I don't mean any harm...but I see your points and mine, and I am still clueless....HELP

ARE YOU CRAZY!!!remember one is to many and a million is not enough when your an addict. You should not have even filled the script.Flush those damn things and take Tylenol or Motrin hell anything but narcotics!!Two lousy teeth being pulled looks like an excuse to use (just my opinion though).

yes its true you should only NEED a 2 day supply what you need and what you WANT are 2 different things I am in the dental field so I know what I am talking about. you could always ask for a refill, but My Dr only gives 12 with any painful procedure. Thays the way it is, your pain should not exceed 2 days Baddgirl

10 Vics for 2 teeth.....let's see, that's 5 pills per tooth.  The question is -  have you been using to the point that you need more to feel the effect or just worried about the pain tomorrow?  From experience, the first day of teeth extraction is the worst - swish the warm salt water around, take your meds, and tomorrow you'll just feel like something's missing and by damn, there's two holes in your mouth that you have to get used to and to try to keep your tongue from going to.  You'll be fine!

? to everyone...
Let's see...I have just got home a little while ago (4:30 p.m. and it is about 8 now) and had the pleasure of having not 1 BUT 2 teeth pulled out. Knowing very well I have been clean off the Vicodin for almost three weeks, oh by the way this dentist knows nothing about me....let me say that first. Anywho....she numbs me up and pulls the 2 teeth...I am like holy S**T...cause I was awake (cause it is cheaper)...so everything went fine, until I was ready to go!! Check this out, and let me know what you guys would do!!! I get my after care instructions along with a script for the pain meds...and yep it is for Vicodin...good I thought...but THEN I look at the quanity!!!! She gave me 10, yep I said 10 freakin' pills....WHAT SHOULD I DO...I asked the assistant right before I left if the doc could give me more and the docs answer was "no sweetie, that should be enough... I FREAKED!!! I cannot believe that this doc gives 10 yeah 10 pills to someone who just had 2 teeth pulled!! Now any comments would be appreciated...and by the way I have 6 left it is almost 8 o'clock here where I am, and I took 2 pills at 4:30-5 when I got home, and another 2 just now....I m lost here, and need to know if tomorrow is going to be okay or am I looking at going to the ER??? Someone with any ideas please write back ASAP....You could if you want email me quickly at ***@**** tonight, for I am deperate here!!! Thanks all....laters
