Opiate Withdrawl HEPL ME?

ok so about a month and a half ago i got really addicted to percocet. i did them consistently for about a month. 30-60 mg daily i stopped cold turkey and had bad withdrawls. i couldnt handle it so i went to the emergency room and they gave me vailum i took that for a few days and it didnt work so i went to a detox and they perscribed me ativan i took that for about a week then stopped. i havent taken percocet in about 2 weeks now and for some reason im still having cold sweats and im very restless i cannot sleep at all. i went back to that same detox and the gave me ambien for sleep but i took that and still had trouble sleeping. and once i got to sleep i kept waking up feeling very restless and uncomfortable. like when i lay down and close my eyes my body still feels like its on fire and there is absolutely no way i can sleep idk how to describe it and idk why im feeling like this can anyone help? does anyone know why im still so restless and having such bad insomnia? please help me thanks brian

Hey Brian,It may take a few more days to get better. It does take a while but you should start sleeping better soon.I did the ambien in my day4-11 or sobut I don't think it helps and I think it caused some anxiety for me throughout the day.Just hang in there and don't go back to the pills. This will get better.I am at day 48 off of 150+per day of oxy and I am sleeping like ten hours a night but during the first 20 or so days I did not sleep more than 3 hours per night. It won't take that long for you though.Keep posting and let us know how you are.

You are still recently clean.  You may have sleep problems for some time.  It varies greatly by person.  Thirty pills a day is alot (if I got that right).  There will be a lot of people that will come on here and give you suggestions on sleep.  What you are experiencing is very common and will eventually go away.  Just hang in there.  What I have heard is good for sleep:  Melatonin, sleepytime tea, Benadryl (depending on your reaction to benadryl, be careful, works for me but not everyone), and hot bath.  Can you get some Clonidine?  It helps with WD symptoms.  It is a blood pressure medication.

Yeah the pot w/d could easily be causing part of the insomnia.I know what you mean about waking up nervous too. This will all go away soon on it's own.Hang in there buddy. This suks but is completely normal for where you are at in this.I have been there many times.

Hi - I read your post wrong.   I thought you said you took 30 pills.  My mistake.  That is a lot of pills!  I reread it and you said 30 - 60 mg.  big difference!

In a previous detox earlier this year I went six straight days without 5 minutes of sleep.  I thought I was going to die.  I did not use and I finally got some sleep after my dr prescribed a sleeping pill.

yes to clarify i was taking roughly 60 miligrams daily at my worst i was taking 120+ mg. not 30-60 pills. i stopped cold turkey it was bad so i went to the ER and they gave me vailum i was weary because i have a very bad past with drugs and a very serious addiction problem and i know that benzos are also highly addictive and cause serious withdrawls. i use to abuse xanax. so i took those for a few days then stopped taking to avoid making it worse. it wasnt getting better so i went to a detox and they gave me another benzo ativan and i was like really? are you trying to kill me? i took that for a few about a week and when my perscription ran out my body was saying give me more. my grandmother is perscribed ativan so i have it readily avaible but being a serious addict i knew to say no because i know what would happen. i stopped everything (percocet, vailum, ativan, and marijuana) and started going literaly insane. and i mean insane like flipping out it was too hard to handle i went back to the detox and they gave me ambian for sleep so i was pumped i was like finally ill get some sleep tonight. so that night i took roughly 15 mg of ambian and it was still impossible to sleep and when i did finally get to sleep i kept waking up very restless and uncomfortable freaking out. im doing my best to cope but for those of you out there who are addicts you know how hard that is and how it makes you wanna go back to drugs. im trying to hang in there but im losing hope i dont wanna go back to drugs so idk what to do.

Brian- Have you actually spoken to a doctor?  Those are all withdrawal symptoms but after two weeks off Percocet after only one month of use, it seems a bit much.

I think you need to get checked and evaluated...

It sounds to me like you are looking for a pill to solve a pill problem......it doesnt work like that. There is something, some things, that need to be recognized and addressed. But you have to maintain your sobriety to peel the onion back effectively. But it is so worthwhile. It took me 6 months to get my sleep back in order - and a few other symptoms - but today is a much better day than the days were 3 or 4 years ago when I was still using. Keep it up and best of luck to you.

vivki- see thats the thing thats why im feaking out so much because its not gone by now. i have been off percocet for about 2 weeks but ativan for only a few days, and i only took that for like a week which isnt long enough to experience withdrawls from benzos idk if it has anything to do with taking the vailum then the ativan but im going nuts bevause this wont go away. and i also forgot to mention that i live in new england and was directly affected by the storm lost power and everything no heat or any of that which is making it that much worse because i have so much down time im trying to hang in there but its really hard. im getting really concerned because as you said this shouldnt still be happening

Okay...First off,I know very well the horrors of last weekend. My entire family lives in New England and they were all deeply affected by that storm. It was terrible. Have you been getting out of the house? I ask that because this could be a combo of withdrawal, and cabin fever, and the benzos gone...It's hard for me personally to say.  You just weren't on the benzos long enough.

That aside, there's always someone who responds completely unexpectedly. You may just be very sensitive to the brain chemical shifts.
I still think you should be checked for your own piece of mind.

Are you eating and drinking enough?  Any other meds?

before the percocet addiction were you addicted to something else?  could these WDs be a hold over from another addiction?

yeah ive been trying to get out but its hard because of the temprature changes in my body its freezing out and i have a very hard time staying warm but once i get warm i start having bad bad cold sweats. i use to work out and be a body builder and i lost 20 lbs over all this so im going nuts i went to the mall today walked all around got a massage then went to the gym today and did so much running full body workout saunah swim hot tub shower and now im burning up my gf says my body is cold to the touch  but when i touch my own skin i feel lik im on fire inside and out i have an ice pack on my neck as we speak. and ive spent the previous days cleaning up the wreckage which is really bad so lots of work to be done and lots of heavy lifting so im doing my best to excercise which again is why im freaking out so much because this shouldnt be happening. i go to get checked out and they just think im crazy so thet keep giving me meds so ill leave i think. they gave me ambian without even evaluating me its not working anyway so idk what to do.

and ann- yes very long ago but for the past few years all ive been doing is smoking a lot of weed and smoking cigs or chewing tobacco. i stopped smoking weed along with the percocet and the perscription drugs because after years of drug abuse, rehabs, and lock ups ive finally decided enough is enough and i cant continue like this and i dont wanna put anything else into my body thats ho bad this has become

You're not crazy Brian. You're still withdrawing and some pro's can't handle that very well...so they hand you an rx and send you off. You don't have to take the rx ever! You know that...

Try to stay well hydrated. Eat some protein and stay away from any caffeine for now. This passes as you know...try not to worry. You may have really stimulated all those old receptor sites and you're feeling that, too. Quitting the pot and smokes isn't helping but I understand why you did that. Try to go with this. I'm sure it's about to turn a corner...

I am a mother of an addict. We can't afford fancy inhouse treatments so the next best thing for my kid was outpatient Soboxone film treatment.

It has be a crazy 72 hours, but my kid said they are having good days again although the insomnia has not completely gone away.  It's gonna take time.

On treatment place told me that also have a body purification treatment. They keep their patients hydrated (lots of fluids) and they have their patient take short dry sauna visits to sweat out the toxins.

You should be drinking a lot of water and let your kidney's do what they are suppose to.

Stay in recovery and don't USE no matter what.

I had nightmares early in WD but they eventually stopped.  Mine were scary too and they would wake me up.  I don't know of any way  to stop them.  Maybe someone else has an idea????  Listening to soft music before going to bed.?  How many hours are you sleeping each night?  Did you check the side effects of ambien?  You could check drugs.com.  Some sleeping meds have a side effect of nightmares.  I took ambien but don't remember nightmares.  I do remember sleep eating and sleep driving.  I had a car accident.  Drove into a ditch at 2am.  This is rare do not let it scare you.  I was driving to the grocery store!!
