Ok, what's bothering you the most?  We have lots of remedies to the symptoms.  Have you read the Thomas Recipe in the health pages?  There are safe OTC meds that can help some of the symptoms if you'll tell us what is bothering you the most?

Thank you for the advice. I'm still having trouble because I try to stop. Then, the withdraw symptoms become to overwhelming and I just give up.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. Clean_in_ks shared some really excellent info for you to get started with your detox. We're here to support you through to freedom from your drugs. I've been through opiate detox 3 times in about 4 years, and each time it got worse and the withdrawal. So I'd like to add - you only want to do this once! I've been in aftercare and working on my recovery ever since. I wish you the best.

Welcome to the forum.....mustyhairyandgross!!  You have a sense of humor for sure, huh?  I had to laugh at your forum name.  You are in the right place.

There a 3 main ways we can be successful when trying to put an addiction into remission and change our life for the better.

1)  Cut off ALL our sources for our drug(s).
2)  Share our secret of addiction with someone so we are accountable.
3)  Get some support SOMEWHERE.....therapy, support groups like NA/AA, addiction counseling, Celerbrate Recovery, etc. just somewhere we can talk about all that we've masked over and buried while using.  Learn new ways to cope with all that life throws our way as we begin living our NEW clean FREE life.  We have to un-learn and re-learn behaviors.  Un-earth what's inside.

There are ways to prepare physically to make the initial detox process more bearable.....the Thomas Recipe in the bottom r.h. corner under our Health Pages....getting your home environment set up so you can let a lot of things go for 3 or 4 days......getting some foods and beverages (water, Vitamin Water (Revive), Emergen-C, Powerade or Gatorade, Instant Breakfast Essentials, Boost, Ensure, etc. Protein drinks, or Muscle Milk)
just things to "help" you get thru the worst of it.  Soup, yogurt, crackers, whatever "works" for you.  We're all different, but we need two things FOR SURE.....protein and hydration.  The supplements in the Thomas Recipe will help and there are many other things, too.  We all do it a bit differently, but all you have to do is ask questions.....and usually SOMEONE is on here and able to help.

This forum is full of loving, helpful, knowledgable, compassionate people in all stages of recovery.  We'll all be here for you......climb aboard~
