forgot one of the biggest mental symptoms-- depression. gets pretty severe for many, many people.
once the mental symptoms start and as soon as you are physically able, you really should seek NA or AA meetings. you will gain very useful information like coping skills, how to handle cravings, etc.
you will also meet people in real life that you can talk to and call when you are going through rough times.
how bad it will be or how long it will take really depends on -
how much were you taking daily?
how long have you been taking them?
were they prescribed by a doctor, if so, did you take them as prescribed? never taking more or running out of script early, etc.
in general, it takes about 7 days of physical withdrawal.
days 2-5 being the worst. for some people longer and some people shorter period of time.
after the physical withdrawal, the mental part comes in.
lack of energy, pure mental and physical exhaustion, cravings, lack of sleep, lack of motivation for anything, etc.
Roses and honey? Please don't diminish the difficulty and hard work it takes to combat addiction. It's not a fairy tale or a situation to take lightly.
You really need to consult a physician or drug counselor for a specific program. In general, you will feel pretty crummy for a few weeks. More than crummy. Then life will become roses and honey.
