Oxycodone in moderation during pregnancy?

Hello, I will make this question brief as to avoid any misleadings. For two years roughly i have been prescribed Percocet 10/325 to be taken 3-4 times daily for a fracture in my lower back cause from a diving accident. I am currently 38 and 1/2 weeks pregnant and beginning to feel the onset of labor any day now. My main concern at this point is based upon the fact i have not received a solid answer from my doctor regarding whether or not she beleives my baby will have withdrawals. I am wondering if there is anyone here that has experianced the same of level of medication prescribed during their own pregnancy and could possibly give me insight into the effects the medication had on your child. When i ask my doctor whether or not she beleives that my dosage will cause my daughter withdrawals she only responds with "i really couldnt tell you, its a posibility but i really cant know for sure."  This answer is unsettling to me. AT this point in my pregnancy my doctor says that my daughter is very healthy, weighing 6lbs7oz and consistantly moving will no other reason for concern. Is there anyone here that could tell me whether or not they beleive that my level of medication (roughly 30-40mg per day) would realistically cause my daughter to have withdrawals considering i am still taking said prescription untill her birth?

I want to add, for purposes of being realistic..."moderation" would mean here and there, not daily, every day,.  Because you are taking a pretty decent dose, every day, and have been doing so for a good while...my unofficial opinion would be that, YES, it's probably pretty likely your baby will have SOME kind of w/d's.  Again, no guarantees either way though....she may be perfectly fine.

Just remember, the L&D team will be at the ready.  Best to you.

Actually, you're doctor is being very honest with you.  There just IS no way to know whatsoever until baby is here.  It greatly varies from person to person.

The good news is, your OB is aware, and the delivery team will be watching the baby closely.  If he/she starts exhibiting signs of w/d, they will be equipped to handle it.

Just prepare yourself for it, in case it happens.  I'm sure it is anxiety producing, but I'm sure she will be in capable hands.  Best of luck on your labor!  Maybe pop in and update this thread, so we know how everything turned out!  Prayers for you and baby!

I honestly don't know but when I quit that amount of hydrocodone, after taking them for five years, I went through withdrawal.    At least your doctor knows you are on them.   I hope it all goes well for you and the baby has no effects from it.
