Oxycontin Withdrawal

Yes hello. I quit taking oxycontin cold turkey about 2wks ago. I also did a detox diet for seven days. I drank lemon water and ate brown rice chard and beets for seven days. I was taking 80mg of oxy for about 2mos so not too much. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms except for insomnia. I haven't been able to sleep in two weeks. I thought it was becuase of the withdrawals so last night I took some percocets to try and go to sleep this didn't help at all. I am going crazy here becuase I can't sleep. I am assuming that the withdrawals are over and maybe this is something else but not to sure. I have tried ambien, and sleep md to try and sleep. Ambien would put me to sleep but then I would wake up 3hours later and couldn't fall back. The sleep md made me tired but didnt sleep. I am so tired. I feel like a zombie. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone else experienced this coming off of oxy. Please help!!!

I have heard that for some normal sleep patterns are hard for months sometimes.. have you tried Melatonin?? OR Unisom?? I have heard of more luck with these than prescription meds for sleep.

Look, you have been taking oxy 80's for 2 months. You cannot take a few percocets and expect 20-30 mg's to do anything near what your 80s were doing. Just go through it and get it out of the way. After a year away from ANY mind or mood altering substances, just recently will a tylenol or advil help me. It comes with the territory. Just remember, with time, this too shall pass.

I was taking 4 20mg oxy per day and not every day....but anyways so 80mg total. I did take them all at once but just once a day in the morning I would take 4 20mg oxy. I didn't crush them or snort them or anything like that. But it has been two weeks since I did that. So you think that this sleep thing is still a result of withdrawal from the oxys huh?

yeah i would say its from the oxy. the not sleeping part.
I am 19 days off them . and i sleep 3 hours a night,
I took ambian , they did nothing for me.
I am not sure but i think taking percosets will just prolong the agony.
Thats great ya are off the oxy that long , keep it up

do you think that the perc would be a good way to gradually go down to nothing or I should just go cold turkey completely. I just could really use some sleep. I drive 40 miles to and from work everyday and I am scared of falling asleep ending up in a ditch somewhere.

You have already made it 2 weeks.. I would just look into some options for sleep.. you r brain is healing itself.. what may have once worked isn't gonna. go to the drugstore and pick up a few things.. you have made it this far taking the percs would be taking 10 steps back..

Thanks Guys. I feel alot better now.... I was freaking out thinking that there was something wrong with me. I didn't expect that the sleepliness could be connected since it had been so long since I took an oxy. Also I didn't really have any other symptoms of withdrawal no sickness no flu like symptoms. I got the yawns for a couple of days but that is about it. I have already tried ambien and sleepmd i will pick up some unisom tonight and see if that works. Thanks again.
