Yeah docs were not given much training on this... they only have to take a 8 hour course to prescribe it... Subetex will still do the same thing if you are on too much Meth to switch.. See what happens is when you take the Sub it fills the opiate receptors very tight... blocking other opiates.. it is not the naloxone in Suboxone that does the blocking its the Sub itself either one.. Can you taper down your methodone more and then try again??
Hi Fladdict, I told the Dr. that I was at 40mgs. and I waited 41/2 days without anything and still felt like I was going to die.
It is suggested you be down to 20mgs a day of methodone b4 making the switch to Sub.. The buprenorohine put you into precipitated WD.. which is common when attempting to switch from meth to Subs with out being low enough in dose or not waiting long enough to take the Sub..sounds to me that your meth dose was not low enough to make the switch..
Sorry that this happened..
Suboxone could make it worse as it has an antagonist affect but I'm not sre. It's not that hard to get of 40mg. if you haven't been on it too long. It's a easy drug to taper off of. Could you do that or are you done?
