W/d from oxys & ops— Help?!?

My husband & I have been on oxys--about 250mg/day for the past year & I've been struggling to get him to admit he had a problem. FINALLY, the realization came to him last night & we've decided to taper for 1-2 days then just go CT...we have somas for muscle spasms but beyond that--- I'm scared...IM SCARED TO DEATH...any suggestions or advice on the process will help us both SOOOO much. My in-laws are keeping our babies for the next few days until we feel well enough to keep them so if we were ever going 2 quit, it'd be NOW. I can say I've "tried" in the past but Ive never been so serious about anything in my life this time. Any1 who has had the strength to get thru this in the past, please--PLEASE share with me & ur success will not go unpeased(if that's the right word¿)! Thanx 2 those who have already helped me with their own posts & don't even know it, any who answer this post, & 2 MJ (u've kept me inspired 2 keep going with this & not give up:)!!!

Here is what I think you will need:
Epsom salt for baths
Heating pad if you have one
Tylenol
Advil
Bland food and water or juice that you like. I also drank gatorade.(helped cramps too!)
Mag/Cal supplement (MUST have)
Comfy clothes and plenty of towels.  You will want lots of baths!
Immodium (obvious why you will need this!)

Good luck!  It will be hard, but you can do it!!!  You are worth it!

Hi and welcome...sounds like you are well on your way to a drug free life...I would like to add that if you can start an exercise program...even if it is just walking in the neighborhood...it really does help tremendously...your brain has not need to produce endorphins while you were on the pills, they supplied them...exercise helps the brain to produce them again!!!  Have you lined up any aftercare?  Give yourself a fair chance and get into aftercare as soon as possible...You will learn the tools you need to succeed....GOOD LUCK, YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Hello!

WOW am I so happy for you!  You have the support of your husband AND he chooses to quit with you!  What a blessing for you both!  I congratulate both of you.

Your choices are so excellent.  You have your babies with family so you and your husband can focus on getting well.  That is excellent.
You are reading posts here and getting stronger!
I hope you have read the Thomas recipie.  Taking as many vitamins as the recipie suggests will do nothing but good for you both.
I pray for continued strength for you and your husband.

I am SURE you will both meet your goals, I think this because you have managed to already get through some serious hurdles in your choice of sobriety.  The fact that your husband is fighting the good fight with you is enormous!

Your fear of the withdrawals is based on the genuine adverse signs and symptoms that you have experienced in the past.  I can completely understand what you feel and fear.
If you can both push right through the fear and just KNOW that coming out of all your hard work is a renewed lifestyle for both of you that will be phenomenal for both your mariage as well as your precious, precious babies!  You both have so much to look forward to.

Keep yourselves busy when the temptations get to you.  The hot baths can help you both relax during your w/d phase.  The vitamins are absolutely a necessity.  If you find it all too much to bear, don't despair.  Try not to relapse if you can, and reach out to your physician and ask for help with the worst of your w/d symptoms.  Perhaps it is RLS.  Perhaps it is shaking.  I am not sure.  There are definately medications out there that can help, and are NOT ADDICTIVE.  Trust me.  If you have lack of sleep, you can try benadryl, 50mg, or a sleeping pill that your MD can prescribe.

Please know that you have so many people who are truly excited and willing to help you both in your goal of sobriety.  Getting off opiates is worth it.  If you need me, I am just an e-mail/post/note away.  I really am proud of your efforts Flower.  God Bless you and your husband.  You have already accomplished so much!

Keep your chin up!  We love you.

Yes welcome to the forum!!  Love to hear someone wanting to get clean!  I was taking vics and oxy for run out time for 8 years. I had the withdrawal monster built up to be enormous. Well its not a picnic getting clean but it's no where near as hard as I had thought. God and this forum helped me beyond words. Yes the first 4 days are like bad flu ( I kept telliing myself its not as bad as flu because I wasnt puking)  But you do get the little devil on one shoulder talking the negative crap and the angel saying you can I will help. Well you have to refuse to run the negative tapes!  If you are getting clean with another person you cant run negative thoughts about what THEY are doing wrong. YOU have to focus on YOUR recovery. Of course encourage oneanother pray together. READ your bible if your God has one. Go to meetings. DONT cave and get on another drug like sub to get off this opiate. If you do use, like I did after 2 weeks, dont give up stop again and do it right and dont pick up .   Congrats on your decision !!!!  It's great not being controled every minute by my habit.

HI and welcome to the forum...sounds like you got yourself in a jam....but you came to the right place for help...first off stop and take a deep breath being scared comes with the taratory but the withdrawals although uncomfortable are worst in your mind then the actual
withdrawal... fear only makes things seam worst...I know I was tarafied of withdrawals but found out a lot of my fear was in vein...go to the upper right had corner of the screen and look up the health pages look up the thomas recipe and get a hold of the supplements
suggested ...I went thew methadone withdrawals its no fun at all but it is doable
I also found that a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement cut down on the withdrawals concerterabley you can get it at walmart for 6 bucks for 250....take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening it will help out a lot ...taking hot baths helps with the creepy crawling feeling as well as the freezing many get will withdrawing a hot bath goes a long way to aid with sleep also...I dont know if you believe in God or not but if you do I found prayer to be very helpful he's all you got at 3am the main thing to remember is this is 2/3rds mental and 1/3 physical...look at it like a bad case of the flu nobody wants it but it happens...this is a battle one or lost in ones own mind so go into it with a win win attitude...it will bring an end to this viscous cycle...for the next few days your just going to have to be ok without being ok.for a wile..you will get threw this...keep posting your progress and come here for support there are lots of x oxy addicts here to lean on
good luck with your journey and God bless......Gnarly
