Norco addiction

Hello Everyone,
I have been taking Norco for about 10 years now and I am up to 14 tabs a day.  I know there are some people are on alot more the thing I need to know is how do people get the meds for them to feed their addiction when they take like 25 plus meds? When I run out of norco I use my ultram to get through. I can't seem to get doc's to rx and I guess thats a good thing.  I so badly wanna live a normal sober life.

Hello Rhonda.. I'm very pleased to see you back.. A Dr. can make suggestions but they are not law.. You could search out a group of your own like AA or NA that fit into your schedule better.. I also was strongly advised to go to a detox facility for 90 days.. lock down no contact as they felt my opiate addiction was extreme with a very long history... Obviously I choose to go it at home.. received psychiatric care and the forum... My Dr. was not angry as these are only suggestions.. Tell him what You want.. They are not above us just knowledgeable on things we are not.. I had learned we have to be our own advocates.. Go to him with what you want.. If tapering would be easier then they could set it up where you get only so many a day if going ct I would ask for assistance with anxiety and sleep. only enough for the first couple of days. Knowledge is the key.. find out as much as you can before going.. The ultram you used as a fill it so this you do not take regularly ? Coming off 14 norco a day is not pleasant but doable.. I was averaging 25 to 30 a day.. There are also otc meds that can help... A Dr. can not force us to do anything.. keep asking questions.. reach out for support. and go to that Dr. with the surety of homework and knowledge with your mind made up.. remember.. we pay them...........

I to had a Norco problem. I never got them from the street always from my doc.
I have pain. I was so scared of the w/d's It kept me from stopping.

I was taking as much as you are. I did a taper. I just kept lowering every week until I felt I could stop. Took me over 3 weeks. Still have the daily migraines but learning to live with them in a different way.

So maybe that would work for you, the taper. Let me know if you want to know how I did it.
Tapering dosen't work for everybody but it did for me.

Terry

I called my primary doctor and I have an appointment with him on thurs. to discuss my norco and ultram use.  I am scared I want of these pills once and for all but to get treatment they want me to go to treatment every day 7 days a week from 6pm til 10pm.  I wish I could do this I know that it would be good for me but I have 2 kids and I have school that I can not get an extension on because I already got 2 extensions.  Does anyone know will a doctor treat you and let you just go to meetings on your own. I hate being controlled by pills and doctors I wish I could just be drug free. Any advice is heard thanks for listening

It is possible to live a normal life.. If taking them for pain.. I do not think so...after a long time they actually make us feel more pain as our brains are screaming for more feel good endorphins..Opiates require stepping up doses as our tolerance can grow very quickly.. I was on them for four years for pain..I have now been off over 6mo. and I can honestly say.. My pain is not as intense and can be helped with Motrin 800 massage and hot water....You must be tired of running out of pills.. counting.. having them on your mind all the time ?? I know in active addiction the pills consumed me.. I listened but did not hear.. I cried for I do not know what... it just seemed that everything was bad and good days only happened to a select few.. I found out wrong... I found we have to stop wallowing in our misery and get on with our lives.. sooner or later we have to face reality.. why not now.. why not make the decision to quit being a slave and repressed by a pill.. clean. colors are brighter you laugh.. you cry... but you can articulate why you cry.. doped it is a feeling in general and our minds are sluggish.. we may seem out going and on the ball.. but quirky may fit better.. personally I call it he!!.. Life was meant to be lived.. to be felt and heard.. addiction kills it as sure as it kills our spirit.. You must be weary of this addiction.. why not reach out and join us.. we will help you through the worst.. then you can help others and learn ways to live clean where we do not feel as if we are having to give up something.. but gaining.. Saw your post and my heart went out to you.. active addiction can be a very lonely place.. I wish you well and I hope to see you post again.. feel free to contact me if you ever feel the need to talk.. lesa
