Percocet addiction..

Hi guys! Ive been reading a post here from 2011,it was a long one.I believe the name of the person was mamacm, something like that. Well its sort of made me decide to stop my addiction. IM sick of running out of pills every month, and depending so much on them, counting them every day, trying so hard not to run out at the end of the month. First off ive been taking them for a year and a half,it was vicodins first and 3 months ago changed to percocet. Was doing about four to five  5/325 perkiesa day. Right now im going on 36 hours with out any at all.Not bad at all,no appetite, went the bathroom quit a few times and tossed and turned all night.I did eat some organic wheat toast with cheese on it today. I did notice a change in me while being on these,i dont want to housework,I think they make me lazy.I like to take them because it gets rid of the tired feeling i have in the morning and then later in the day.I was wondering since its not so bad now, will i go threw a rough spot in the next couple days? I did feel some anxiety and boredness today. I feel ok now cuz im having a few beers, yes i know thats bad but im an alcoholic too.I have a few beers everynight. I have PTSD,severe depression, panic disorder, ohh i could on,but will stop there,i self medicate with my beers.

No, it's a narcotic as well and if you abuse it the tylenol will damage your liver.

No, I wouldn't save them.  Ask your doctor for something non-narcotic for your periods.
You have to get rid of all your pills, tell your doctor you are abusing them.
He will be aware and give you something else that can work just as well.
If you are serious about quitting you have to do this.  If you keep them around you will take them.

Ive decided, yes,im quitting for sure. Quick question though,if anybody has experience with this can you answer please.  I was on them for arthritus in my lower back, and for my horrible periods. Now im sure i can deal with the low back issue, but i do not think i can deal with my period problems.I have fibroids and ovarian cysts. Right now i hate them pills!!! I would like to know if anybody just saved them for pain after an addiction?  This is probably a stupid question.
Thank you guys so much for the help, very much appreciative!!!

Hi and welcome to this forum. I don't have much to add except to say that Pat just took the words right out of my mouth. She is "telling it like it is". I hope you can decide to quit now because it only gets harder as you keep using. The first time I got clean I was only taking like 2-3 Vicodin 5/500 a day. Like you said, very mild WD. I had one tough night where I had to take like 3 hot baths and that was it. But now I'm on day 8 of cold turkey and still feeling it. I hope you can decide to quit now because you will be saving yourself from a lot of pain later. Good luck to you.

Hi and welcome
Trust me your addiction will only get worse and the withdrawals will only get worse.
You are on a low dose right now but soon you will need more because we build up a tolerance to them.
I started low too but I ended up needing 20 percocets a day to come close to satisfying my addiction.
The withdrawals were hell and yes, I did it a few times.
If you can quit now, you will save yourself so much grief.
Believe me this addiction starts small but spins out of control very fast.

Well I guess it is decision time. either you want to get clean now or you get a refill. At some point you will have to detox. Why not now? You have come this far and are probably through the worst of it. I hope you stick with it and maybe get honest with your doctor that you are abusing them. It's all up to you right now.

Hi & Welcome

I would like to try and help if I can but to be honest, your posts are all over the place. I don't know exactly what you are asking. At the end you said "Im scared im goin gto call my Doctor mid week and ask for more.". I don't understand gto and I don't know what you are asking your doctor for. You have an awful lot going on and the drinking is just adding to problem. It is so dangerous to mix meds and alcohol.

So what are you asking and what is it you want to accomplish? This is a great place for support so stick around and people will respond to you.

Hi Angie, If you indeed want to free yourself from opiates, you're in a great position to do so. If you're doing that good at 36 hours you should be  through any additional uncomfortable withdrawal fairly soon. Alcohol will make withdrawal rougher, at least it did for me the withdrawal before last. This time I stopped everything; Alcohol, an occasional Xanax and Vicodin. Like you, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I never want to go through that again. I'm powerless over drugs and alcohol and they make my life unmanageable. Good luck to you Angie, and keep posting, letting us know how you're doing or if you have any questions.

Its not easy for me to get to a store as i dont drive because of my anxiety. I did just dump out a beer,it was giving me a headache. Im scared im goin gto call my Doctor mid week and ask for more.
