Percocet addiction

Hey,

I am 24 and went through a few surgeries. A shoulder reconstruction and a spinal fusion about 2 years ago.

I have been taking opioids ever since. I read some of these posts where people take 10-30 percocet 5mg or above a day. I have never took more than 30-60mg and 60mg is  A L O T... On a regular day I usual do 20-40mg.

Today I took a percocet 5mg and a piece of a oxycodone(no tylenol) so all together maybe 15mg at most. I feel totaly fine and I still get a buzz from a percocet 5mg.

I have a drug test coming up next week maybe weds or thursday and I have to pass it. My first question is how long would these opiods stay in my system for being that I have been taking them for quite sometime now and two what is your best recommendation to get of off them. I am tired of always taking pills and it is not fun anymore(well, it is, it's a lot of fun, but I am reasdy to move on). I have about 3-6 days before my drug test and i HAVE TO PASS. It's for a 65k a year job..

When I woke up today I wasn't "sick" or anything. I had mild stomach pain but nothing I couldn't handle. It's the emotional and mental thing that gets me. I get bored, I have no motivation, everything is just sucky. When I take a percocet 5mg I automatically am able to do anything.

Any help please??

Drinking to much water (lots) before a drug test can make your urine to clear, which can lead the lab tech to sespect you were trying to flush your system, which can result into retesting you. This all depends on who is doing the testing. I use to work in a lab that did drug test and this was a common thing, in which we looked for. Also don't take any herbal detox remedies or golden seal root, cause they are surely up to date on that. Like I said in my last post 50/50 water/vinegar in total of 16 oz. AND YOU WILL HAVE YOUR JOB!

drink 16 oz. of 1 part water and 1 part vinegar. Thats 50/50, 24 hours before your test and you will be clear.

Typically a sciript is "supposed" to be discarded after 1 year.

Will a script from a year, year and a half ago work? or will they need something more recent?

If you test on Wed or Thur and don't take any more between now and then, it will be out of your system.  Drink lots of fluids between now and then to flush out your kidneys.  Then drink a lot of fluid the 12 hours before the test.  Don't drink too much the two hours before or it is possible that the sample will be too dilute to test and when that happens people always get suspicious.  If you have a legitamate prescription for the pills you should be fine if it tests positive.  I wouldn't risk it though, so just don't take any more between now and the test and you should be fine!  Good Luck

Hello,

Thank you so much for the quick response. I do have a script. However, this was all done through workmen's comp and I have since settle the case. I do have the bottles that were prescribed to me and I can get the original prescriptions from my local pharmacy if need be however, the scripts are a year old and even more.

I have never bought the pills illegally, I have always took whatever I had left. I still have maybe 30-http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/77
Back_to_forum40 percocet 5mg that were prescribed to me over a year ago. Does this matter how long the script was filled..

As far as being sick, I do not get sick at all(no physical pain) I do get bored for about an hour or two if left alone, but, I do not take the pills for the "feeling" I still do have awful pain and I try and moderate my use. When I am working or doing something I never think about the pills, if I a busy and doing stuff that stuff is the last thing on my mind. Problem is is that I have been feeling real bad for the last week or two and have been taking approximatively 30-40mg a day and I just don't want to fail this test and I am real worried about getting addicted...

Any advice?

It usually takes about 5 days to get the opiates like percocet which is a short acting opiate. If you have a prescription then I dont think it would matter if you tested clean for opiates, Employers are looking for drugs like, THC,AMPHETAMINES. Basically illegal drugs cocaine and a list of many others. What you should do is be honest and tell the person gathering the specimen that you take percocet occasionally as prescribed by your physician. I dont see how this would effect the possibility of your employment if you have a prescription for the percocet,

Hello and welcome to the forum!!

The perc's will be out of your system in a very short time. If you stop now, you will be fine. More than fine.

If you are legitimately taking the pills, prescribed by the doctor, you can take the prescription with you to the test. However, it sounds like you are no longer using them for post-op pain and now you are just enjoying the "feeling". Now it is time to stop.

Since you have been on a relatively low dose, you will probably only feel sick for a few short days. Nothing serious and certainly nothing worth not doing. This is a great opportunity for you now.

The emotional and mental aspect is another thing. I would suggest you find outside help for that. If left unattended, it can easily bring you back to the pills again.

I hope you go through with this. Post when you can. Take care.
