I am a health nut and I am very scared of drugs. So, I will deal with my pain drug-free. I have two brothers who are addicts and this has affected my life. I wish they would find their path in life without drugs. Thank you so much for your advice, now I am no longer worried what the next week will bring. Regards...
You can always feel free to post your own question here also, by going to the top of this page and it says post question. I don't know if your still in pain, but congrats on getting off them now, it does not sound like your mentally addicted to them:) When in doubt, it's always best to talk to your dr, but as far as stopping them, like I said w/d's should be mild and be gone in a few days. Good luck:)
Hi Downinthedumps, welcome to the forum. I went through an 8 day detox back in June to get off opiates - actually suboxone. It is completely normal to feel drained of energy for several weeks, although by this time you should start to get your energy back and it should start to come back fairly quickly. Did you receive Narcan with your detox to kick the opiates off the brain, or was just methadone used and then tapered. I would be happy to share more about my experience with you and answer any questions - just send me a message. Hang in there, you will start to feel better - It took me about 5 weeks before I really started to feel completely human, but you will get there, so don't give up. Take Care, S
My neck pain is not good my headache is pounding though. Only 6 weeks post-opp from my second fusion...
Oh thank you for your comment, just joined and not sure what I am doing : ) I have has a few dizzy spells but nothing too bad.
Since you were on a low dose and only for 3 months I would imagine your w/d's will be very mild. How did you feel after the 3 days without taking any? Is your neck pain better?
I have been taking hydrcodone for 3 months. However I have only taken two at most in one day. I have gone 3 and 4 days without a pill. Off and on for neck surgery. Does anyone think it's okay to just stop completly now? Will I have a problem. Never been on any other drugs my whole life.
I wish they had of had you detox with sub instead of the methadone. I understand that meth. is very hard because of its long half-life. Tram is one of the synthetic opiates that has an antidepressant in it, and from what I have read in "EmilyPosts" thread/journal, it is a monster, with long acting side effects when detoxed from. Considering all that you have used it doesn't surprise me that you are still having a hard time with after detox, just tramadol and methadone, they are tough. You will be okay tho, give it alot more time, as these two drugs seem to hold on for a while. You will be okay, read Emily Post journal, lots of info there. Keep posting, and please see your Dr. if you feel the need to. best wishes
Ella
First off, congrats on your sobriety!! Such a huge accomplishment so be very proud of yourself. For many, the energy is one of the last things to return. For some it can take a month or more to feel 100% back to normal. I don't really have any experience with methadone except for what I have read on here. Methadone has such a long half life the withdrawals from it can take quite a bit longer than other short acting opiates. This could be the reason you are struggling so bad with the lack of energy.
Even though I highly doubt you have any kind of liver damage I would still get the simple blood test done just to be on the safe side. If for some reason you do have some damage done the earlier you catch it, the better. The liver is one amazing organ and can usually heal itself on its own. If there is quite a bit of damage done there are meds that can help it along. The sooner you catch it the sooner it will heal. But I honestly wouldn't loose any sleep over it. In the past I was taking upwards around 20 to 25 10/500 mg lortabs a day for around 8 months. I decided to get a liver function test done and it came back in the normal range meaning that there wasn't a thing wrong with it. But like I said, it's just a quick blood test so I would get it just so you have some peace of mind.
As far as feeling normal again, everyone is different. There are some things that can help speed up the process. In the health pages you should check in to the amino acid protocol. It lists a bunch of vitamins and supplements that will help get your mind and body back on track a bit faster. Also be sure to eat healthy and push the fluids such as juice and water. Be sure to exercise!!! I can't stress this one enough. I have been through withdrawals a few times. Once with exercising and once without. The time I exercised I was back to my old self in a much shorter amount of time. I know sometimes it can be hard to muster up the energy to do so, but force yourself. Trust me on this one. You won't be disappointed!!
Well, congrats once again on getting your life back. With each passing day you will feel better and better. Just keep moving forward and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Be sure to get aftercare as it is so very important. Once clean we tend to become very vulnerable and think we can take just one pill for just one night. That one pill often leads to two. That one night usually leads to two nights and then two weeks and before we know it we are right back where we started. Come on this forum and post, read posts, and answer posts. If you ever get the urge to use get on here and let everyone know. You will get a outpouring of support to help you fight through. There are so many wonderful and caring people on here that will not judge and help you every step of the way!!
Hang in there and remember that every day clean is better than any day of using!!!!!
Best of luck to you and if you need anything, please let me know!
