Pregnancy and Pain Pills

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been using oxys and percocet throughout my pregnancy. I don't always use every day and when I do it is just a couple here and there.
I don't really experience withdrawals and i feel awful that I have not been strong enough to quit. I have now stopped using completely and I was just wondering if anyone knows if this will have any effect on my baby.

Hi jhenry456 - welcome - and I'm sorry you're suffering right now.  If you post (actually it's "ask") a new question, I know a lot of the members here can help you through this time - I just don't want to see your comment get "lost" because this thread is kinda old.

Just wanted to post what I know...DDIL is PG with # 6 and has did pills ( Lortab, oxy, xanax and others ) with all babies..#1 dd wasn't growing and labor was induced she weighed 4lbs...legally blind, hearing impaired..mentally retired and she is now 9...# 2 DS is 8...no problems at birth other than she had preterm labor 3 X and then delivered at 38 weeks..he is fine just a bit hyperactive...# 3 DD no problems with baby but mom had swollen kidneys and was in lots of pain, and so far no signs of problems with DD...# 4 DS she was on pills really bad the first 2 months only and then went to jail..DS was born a month after mom got out of jail...I delivered him he came so fast...He does have lots of problems..Speech impaired and VERY ADHD...# 5 had withdrawels and was sent to a NICU hospital for a week...He is now 10 months old and development has been normal so far...Lot's of reflux and breathing problems from the beginning and not getting better...She is now expecting # 6 in about 3 weeks and has added a new drug suboxian this time and I am really worried about the out come of this DD...So NO DRUG is safe at any time as you can see here...But you just don't know which way it will go...Lot's of drugs during preganacy will show up as ADHD and learning problems later on around school age...other will show up even later in life such as no fear and control with rages and fighting...So PLEASE!!! talk to your doctor and do it the right way. Good Luck!

Every single person who has posted on here asking for help is already addicted. There's no point "warning" everyone not to take pills- they are obviously already realizing that they have a problem. If your doctor prescribes the meds, then they obviously have the expertise to know that it is not going to cause harm to your baby. The ONLY thing that narcotics do to a fetus is cause withdrawal after it is born, which is easily treated in the hospital. If your doctor has prescribed the meds, then they know they will need the NICU on hand if the baby begins to withdraw. If the benefit to the mother outweighs the minimal risk to the baby, then the doctor will decide to keep the mother on pain medication. An inactive, stressed-out, emotionally unstable mother is much more detremental to a baby than a narcotic pain med that allows the mother to be active and calm. I am a nurse who worked with a physiatrist for years. Check your references before you put information out there.
