Lorazospam Questions

I started taking Lorazospam for the first I was rushed by ambualnce to the ER because I had a severe reaction to Lexapro the doctors suspected Seritonin syndrome...Felt like my insides were on fire and my outsides with elevated heart rate and blood preasure...They gave me valume to get my BP and HR back to normal it worked..I kept going back to the ER with these symptoms for 3 days they said I have severe anxiety and prescribed Ativan.....I wish I wish I never started this drug it's been a nightmare......This all happened in Dec 2009 I was on 3mg everyday for a month and I told my doc in January 2010 I want off it's been a long raod, but I am now down to an 8th a of a miligram in the morning and night...I tried to stopp last night cause thats practically nothing and I got elevated heart rate and blood preasure was 150/90 and I felt kinda dizzy......Oh and during these months I have had numerous blood tests tons of EKG and 2 24 hour halter monitors plus an ultrasound of my heart all which come back normal....Any advice or wisdom for me I want off this drug and i'm practically down to crumbs.....Thanks so muuch

Are you in therapy for the panic attacks .... you are only taking a crumb so at this point it may be more mental the physical.I used to have panic attacks i have learned how to control them one of the things when I have one I breath in threw my nose out threw my mouth while I am counting backwards from two hundred if have never made it all of the way down to I before the panic attack is over.

Yeah you are hardly taking anything now anyways. I would talk to your doctor and let them know how you are feeling. Ask about clonidine, which is a blood pressure medication that is often given to help with withdrawals. The upshot to this is that it may help keep your blood pressure steady while making the withdrawals a little bit more bearable. Its worth talking with your doctor about. Also, benzos need to be tapered but since you are on such a low amount your doctor may thinks its fine to jump off and jump right on the clonidine and get it over with. But do not take any advice here without first talking to your doctor. Best of luck and God Bless.

lorazepam is the generic form of ativan.  I know some people can have reverse reactions to benzos.  i know that if I take benadry i get really hyper. I am not really sure what the question is. I know after I detoxed off of Lortab I took valium to help for about 8 days each day lowering my dose.  Now I did this at a detox center.  Also your blood pressure will be high while detoxing for some people. I did take Ativan along time ago but not on a regular basis so I can't really give you advice as far as detoxing off of Ativan if that is the question. hopefully someone else here will have good advice for you.
