Question regarding Suboxone

I've been addicted to Vicoden for 15 years.  I just went to a doctor today to get Suboxone.  I took my first pill this afternoon and it made me feel great!  After reading some of these posts, I'm terrified of becoming addicted to it and afraid for when I have to stop taking it.  How long am I supposed to take it.  The doctor mentioned something about me seeing him for six months.  Yikes!!  Seems like I will be in terrible shape if I have to withdraw from Suboxone after six months.  I'm so tried of chasing the Vicodin though.  I want to be free of drugs and healthy again.

Having read a lot here about subs...it seems to be with a long period of addiction like you stated..subs are a good way for you to get and stay clean.  Like gnarly said you may or may not have w/d from them when you taper down, but giving you time to get healthy and find a way to stay clean it may be well worth it.  Good luck!!!

I'm on day 30 of sub withdrawal..my advice to you if you decide to try it would be to get on a good taper plan when it's time to stop taking it....from what I've read here people who do it the right way have a lot better experience than those of us who don't....wish I had surfed onto this forum before I jumped. You can do this...so don't be afraid... better days are ahead : )

HI  sub is a good drug to put your addiction on hold and give you time to work some form of aftercare to get strong enough to stan on your own 2 ft 6mo is a resonable time to do that in work a progam the whole time you on sub gatting off it can be tricky you have to taper it even with that about 50 % of the people do fine the others go threw 2 weeks of hell getting off it a crap shoot you dont know till you try just know ether way will be here to help we have a lot of success storys with sub good luck and God bless.......Gnarly
