michele do find something... I want to see you stay clean and this forum is great but you need something there too .Thank you ..The first time I got clean I made it over 6 months but I was not getting any recoverycare I relapsed so its really important ....
I know you will find something that works for you
I know it too. Just can't do anything with him working all the time, and only one vehicle. He doesn't get home till 8 30 or 9 pm sometimes, and I have to care for him and all his needs when he is here. I love it, but I need time for me too to stay well :) thanks
hehehe!! yes I always wanted to be a cheerleader in school (not!!) lol, but I love doing it here. I just want to help people. I guess I need a real job, but he doesnt want me to work, just care for him :) I guess that's okay with me...I am trying to find a late night meeting around here, just don't know the town that good yet, and when I do, he will switch towns and jobs. Nature of the business. But I will find something soon I hope :) Yes I love it here!!
32 days off cigaretts, after 30+ years of heavy smoking. Somedays my recovery program seems to consist of frequently muttering "god damn I want a cigarette." Actually, I'm using the 12 Steps and Chantix.
1,764 days off mood/mind altering substances. Recovery program consists mostly of actively working the AA program and going to about 5 meeting a week these days (during the first year it was 10 a week, lots of recovery and spiritual reading, and trying to practice the principles in all my affairs.
Im about 260+ days clean again off vicodin. I have only been to 1 NA meeting, like 2 months ago or something like that and just use this board for now as my aftercare (stop your yelling Avis, lol). Im doing really good lately..i had hit quite a dark spell over the winter which peaked about a month ago. I was pretty depressed and feeling empty for awhile, but through my wonderful children and this great warm early spring weather, Ive snapped out of it and been enjoying life again!
lol, lol Vicki, i can so picture Avis grabbing her car keys, walking out her door and mumbling to herself, alright, thats it we're all going to a meeting, wait a minute, where can i rent me a bus??
Michele- Its great to want to meet his needs but yours are just as important, an hour on his own wouldnt kill him would it? Like, Vicki said, once a week maybe? We love your help here but we want to keep you as our cheerleader, not lose you to a relapse.
Jacky...I literally laughed out loud...A BUS!!! I can just picture that...on her cell phone, calling around and THEN calling Ga Guy to be the driver!! You know...I think if she could she'd do just that!!
And don't worry about Michele...I know where she lives. I'll get her to a meeting and pray we can be serious for an hour or so...
Trouble and Sarah, just join us on Avis' bus, with Ga Guy appointed as our bus driver by Vicki!!! We are all going to a meeting!! Right now!! Yaaaaaay, The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, the wheels on the bus go round and round........... take it Michele..... lol, lol, lmao.... i crack myself up!!! Dont worry everyone, im still clean, lol
I have been clean for 669 days and counting, any how I stay strong by coming on to this site and reading...... and if I can help any one I will do so. But congrats to everyone on there staying clean and sober time keep up the good work!!!!!
I've been clean from vicodin exactly 50 days today (Like them zeros). I haven't had a drink for over 27 1/2 years. I've also been on a lengthy Ambien taper schedule. I'm on the 1/2 to 1/4 alternating part of it now. Tonight is 1/2 (5mg) so I get to sleep... some :(
I joined AA in September of 1982. I haven't had a drink since the night before my very first meeting. I got a sponsor and I work the program. Although my son has been going to NA for 7 years and I've gone to his meetings to give him his multi-year tags, I now belong to NA also. I've also been going to Al-anon off and on for 13 years this month. I guess I'm a 12-step lunatic! The most important Al-anon skill I've learned is to allow others the dignity to be who they are and keep my focus on working on me.
Congratulations to everyone on today's clean time!! It's all about getting to bed tonight w/o drink or drug. When we wake up tomorrow it will be today.
I go to either an AA or NA meeting at least 5 days a week, worked the 12 steps, and work with others. This board really keeps me grounded too, sometimes its easy to forget what it was like trying to sober up.
AA/NA meeting as often as I can...working the steps with my Sponsor. I have a therapist and my wife and I are working hard to understand what we are dealing with. I am truly trying to understand what my triggers are and why I have a compulsion to use drugs. Knowledge is Power...Power is Freedom...Acceptance is the start. Life is truly a gift and I want to experience every minute of it "awake"!
LMAO you guys! i can so totally see Avis buying some old beater bus out of a junk yard- spray painted 8 different colors w/ her own additions stenciled on "AFTERCARE EXPRESS" it LOL. It'd sorta be like that Montel WIlliams deal only lower budget lol
289 days free of oxazepam and 18 days free of tranxene
My aftercare is therapy once a week, meeting once a week and addiction specialist once a month.
Congrats to all on their clean time. Keep on fighting, y'all are soooo worth it!
3 days! Hey...it may not be as long as everyone else, but I am just as proud! lol. I am going to check into aftercare next week. Today is "come clean" day. I am telling my family and my wife about it. I have already told all of them that I need to talk to them about something tonight. It's all part of relasing guilt and the demon. It no longer controls me! ;)
3 days is AWESOME Bad_O, and remember we all started on day one! Good luck with your come clean day, for me it was such a relief, I never realized how hard I worked to keep my "secrete". Remeber you can always come to these boards for support, but aftercare is a must!!!!!
where is do find peoples post very funny and I could see my self doing that. The post kind of got hijacked .I want to make sure people are really seeing the need for recovery care and how much of a diffrance it can make in clean time and minimize relapses ...So lets get back on track ... So i dont need to get the bus.
I'm back, and apologize for being gone for such a long time, haha!
I'm no longer pregnant - it was a false positive. It crushed me, but I've stayed strong throughout the entire thing. I've had a few medical issues since I was last on the forums, but have been able to cope with those with the help of my new amazing doctor who knows about everything. Not sure how long I've been sober, as I try not to keep count anymore. It's been well over six months, and absolutely NO slip-ups, either!
Aftercare is just talking to my doctor. He's seen and had a lot of patients who've unwillingly become addicted or dependant on pills, but he knows that I was addicted, and I've been able to deal with that as well. I also attend NA meetings when I can.
I didn't respond to this yesterday because I wanted to wait till today to say 30 days! Aftercare is my doctor, my husband and family, and medhelp. I try to spend a little time most days giving back the help I received.
Hey I got 170days free of methadone 5yrs from alcohol and pot..3 yrs from cigs and
for aftercare I see an substance abuse conslor once a week...im involved a lot in a grace
based church that I attend on sunday as well as a bible study on tue and a homegroup

Mark
