STOPPING WITH METHADONE AND MORPHINE

I have been taking 30 mg of methadone daily,and 200mg morphine extended release.
I'd like to stop taking it,but need a good plan,to avoid abstinence.
I have this 10 mg methadone pills,the morphine 100 mg extended release(Its a capsule,so I can open it and measure approximately,and morphine 30 mg immediate release.
I really hate the sweating of the abstinence,is there something that helps it?what other drug(benzos or else)can help me to stop?
I have time, and I'm not running out of the meds,but really want to quit...help!!!

I had sucess quitting the morphine!I had time to quit,and was so slow,that i didnt really feel w/d.The methadone I got to 20mg,anything less,the pain was too much.
Now I now why the pain kept coming back.I was in the early stages of arthrites.I began treating the arthrites in 2011(took too long to diagnose!)
And thats a complicated illness,I have flare ups that debilitate me totally.
But keept tring to use the minumum of opiods..
Now my problem is different..When I have the crises,I have to up the meds(my doc said to use 80mg methadone,and 30 mg morphine as a rescue option,and if I needed more than 120 mg a day,to call her).I hate methadone and the long period it stays in the body..But she says is better for the pain..But now Im out of the last crise,that lasted a month,and want to taper.I worry about the next crise,that I need to up more the meds.Anyone with similar experiences?

HI.... I have heard a lot about the night sweets coming off morphine its not uncommon
if I where you I would work my way off the morphine first it is a shorter acting narcotic then methadone and 30mg of methadone will help hold off a lot of the withdrawals from the morphine ...when its time to do the methadone let us know by posting I have a great methadone taper that was givin to me by a neo/natal nurse and I can send it to you via the messenger it will bring you off the methadone as painlessly as possible in the shortest amount of time...a mater of fact check your E/mail in a few minutes I will send it to you now

I really appreciate all the help.
I've been taking pain meds for 10 years,(I have severe endometriosis)and never much more than prescribed.But after my 10th surgery,I think my pain is much better,and my new doctor suggested me to use cannabis for the pain.And it is helping a lot!So now I want to wean from the opiates,or at least reduce them to a minimum.
Unfortunately,here in Brazil,doctors don't have much experience in quitting opiates,mostly because they are seldom prescribed,and usually to terminal illnesses,and also because here there is no heroin,so there are no programs to quit opiates.
I'm planning to taper them slowly,my idea was to taper 5 mg a week(methadone).But I saw some posts,about tapering 1 mg at a time.
I reduced my morphine from 300mg a day(some days I had to take 400mg),to 200 mg ,in 15 days,and had no major w/d.Only night sweats and flu like symptoms,but the sweats got me crazy,waking up several times a night soaked didn't help....But I hope that clonidine will help this.
Now I'm with 30mg methadone,and 200mg morphine,and the pain is ok.
The methadone pills we have here,are 10 mg,but they are quit small,so its only easy cut them in quarters,anything less,would be too small.The morphine pills are easier to manage,they are 100mg extended release,with little granules(like beads)inside.
I want now to start tapering the methadone first.
Which one is better for w/d,xanax or valium?

HI. Abstain from the morphine, and then taper the m/done.If you try to go off both at once,what will happen is you will use more morphine as you drop the methadone dose by tapering.
You are going to go through W/D no matter what.The methadone alone will be tough,I just went off it 2 1/2 weeks ago after a taper. Stay tuned,more will try to help you.        karl

We cant post tapers on here but gnarly will be around at some point and he came off methadone and has a ton of experience....keep checking back ok?

I know I will have some w/d and abstinence.But my problem is the fisical addiction.
Thats why I need a good plan,to taper them slowly and avoid major w/d symptoms.
I read about clonidine,to ease the night sweats(they really bother me,and make me wake several times a night.)I also plan to use the thomas recipe.
Anyone has a good tapering schedule to help me?

You want to quit but at the same time you want to avoid abstinence?
