I understand...hit me bad today...day 15...I agree with the others...take a walk, get some fresh air...some sun....I know it is hard..I have been in bed sad all day, but I am forcing myself to go outside and take a walk...I believe in you and know you will pull through....

I second the exercise thing. That is what keeps me above board mentally and I honestly believe it is the most powerful tool in my recovery and for depression.  Get your heart rate up and keep it up for thirty minutes.Don't kill yourself but push  just enough to be slightly uncomfortable.  You will be glad you did or at least you will be happy to be done.

Incidentally, are you going to NA for support? A closed women's meeting would help, but i'd give it a week or so before going. Most of us need support after detox, to stay clean and sober. Are you sober as well?

The sadness you feel during withdrawal, was akin to labour pains during childbirth. It was bad, but easily forgotten after living your life to the fullest. Time is what it takes. This too shall pass. I have all but forgotten the days of crying coming off the opiates, until I hear from another going through it. Time will heal your wounds. Don't scare yourself by assuming that what happens for others will necessarily happen to you either, okay? Just because others have long term depression or sadness or whatever, doesn't mean it's going to happen that way for you. One day at time, no projections on to you. Remember, we all have to do our own "time", after abusing drugs. It's part of the cost of doing business all those months or years, and it's cheap at the price to be free from them. It's only a blip in the scheme of things. You're doing great, being sad means you're moving through the withdrawal and you're on your way to freedom. It won't be long now.

Time my friend . In time you will be fine and your brain will start to manufacture endorphins again in a normal state . I know its tough . But try and stay busy . I remember how tough it was to enjoy hobbies in a normal state of mind again . But I promise in time you will be happy and opiate free and enjoying life again without them . We all went threw it and we all know what you're going threw trust me .Stay strong ! Jimmy

Hi..This seem to me a normal process when we remove the substances it affects the emotional/biochemical balance that has been established. The person has to readjust to living without the previous levels of stimulation..I have surfed around the site and yes exercise is a big one like dancing is good..We need Sun and Lots of water..The Foods we eat have alot to do with this..We are trying to re-build the Nero-transmitter back..The serotonin is the mood and the endorphins help with energy..I am sure there are alot more involved. Also try some meetings for support and today I am going to my first Mindfulness Class..There is alot to the Disease then just the Detox..OK
Keep on Truckin..

Improv dance parties in your living room ( and I'm not being a smart butt, that's what is helping me).
