Opiates stops up the bodily functions. It is no suprise at all that you are having gi problems.
Those high doses and you are still having pain.
Time to re evaluate the pain.
Opiates actually can increase pain after you are on them long term.

Hey Always Late....
I think if YOU think your Dr. is taking you down too fast, I would tell him that. Did you discuss this with him, because you are on a lot of high doses of major pain meds? In my humble opinion, I would discuss my fears about this with him/her. Good luck!
Ty's for answering. I really appreciate it. I'm still scared.my dr is trying to get me on a low dose of meds that will work for my pain. I'm just scared of doing it so fast will put me in withdrawal? It didn't look good to any other dr that I was on such high doses. And dr thinks it is messing with my stomach.? I had a cervical neck fusion5,6, about 4 yrs ago. Horrible back pain and throbbing legs, just horrible pain all over my body and dr said I have fibromyalgia. So I don't know what to do I don't wanna suffer in pain forever!
Does anyone know if that small of a dose dr has me on with throw me into withdrawals or I feel just feel like crap.? Thanks a lot, michelle
What caused you to be on so many narcotics at such high doses? How will yo manage your pain when you get off the meds. I find it unusual you were on two long acting meds. I was on a lot at high doses and wanted to come off to see where my real pain was at. Longstory. I've been off and on because my pain causes my bp to skyrocket and can't get it down. But I've never let them put me on such high doses again and I will never go on Fentanyl unless it's for end of life pain. It's a hard drug to come off.
With the number of drugs and the dosages you take I think you need to detox under inpatient supervision. You'll also be more comfortable. And you also need to work on a plan on how to deal with your pain.
I found great help with my primary doctor and a new pain doctor she recommended. You can definitely get off all this but it's going to tzke some time. Personally I'd come off them one at a time and I'd start with the Fentanyl and then the Dilaudid. There's lots of ways your doctor can get you off without too much discomfort. Look into the Thimas recipe. It will help ease any withdrawals that may crop up.
Welcome to the forum! It's great that you want to get off all those opioids!!
I don't personally have any experience with the specific drugs you are on...but you are on some HEAVY DUTY meds!! Dilaud and Fentanyl alone are VERY strong. And then add all that morphine, both IR and ER and you're gonna definitely need some help from your doctor to wean off all these meds. If you work out a plan with your dr as to which drug to taper, how much to cut your doses, etc. it would be the safest way. It will take some time to do it....and slow and steady will allow you the least w/drawal symptoms. There truly isn't any way to get off opioids without feeling some discomfort.....but it CAN be done.
All the stomach issues you are having are not surprising as we have opiate receptors in our gut. Here's some info you may want to check out about that since you were hospitalized for GI issues:

Stick close to your dr....work out a good taper plan...and keep posting...lots of us on this forum have successfully gotten off pain meds...and many others will come along to share their experience, strength and hope with you. Glad you've decided you want to be FREE~
