Why don't I have an appetite? Help!!!

I am tapering off a 13 a day Vike habit and I jumped off the cliff from 13 to 6 a day. I have absolutely no hunger and I have to force soup down. I just get sick at the thought of food. What the hell is going on with me? I hear others here are eating everything in the house.

I know how that is not being hungry. When I was on Opiates all I did was eat, when I was off them, I couldn't. Your body will start to adjust, just give it some time.

Thanks for the ensure tip, I'll give it a try. I'm taking a multi but was thinking there just has to be more that I can do.

try the supplement ensure - walgreens - or use their store brand of liquid nuttrition. It sounds to me (looks, rather) like you are dropping too much of your dose at once. I believe that you mention going from 13 to 6 or such. Way too long a jump. Only taper 1 pill per week off dose..it does take time unless you just wish to c/t the mess. Take your multi vitamins and supplements. Yes, the potassium in banannas is good - but you need zinc for rls - and the tyrosine for head fog and stuff...look up the Thomas Recipe on this forum and try and do it. It works. Stay hydrated well. Its really easy to get dehydrated during this and dehydration is not cool. Its dangerous. Keep posting here and you will get some support. Lots of good folks around ready to chat with you.Don't be too anxious. I've had quite a history, but it takes a while to get past the depression and malaise that accompany the post withdrawal syndromes....not just a few days. You may want to consult someone and check out an anti depressant for a while. And just writing a post is good therapy as far as I am concerned so keep it up. Be strong and stay tough.

I have heard that the potassium in bananas helps the muscles. I have some on the counter but they are not quite ripe and I can't stand them on a good day if they have any green on them... have to be fully ripe. So I stare at them and watch them ripen, lol!!

You guys are great, thanks.

I haven't really had a whole meal.  Just more snacking.  And I think that it is because I am bored.  I tried to eat a chicken sandwich earlier and BLAH!!!!  It was so gross.  I'm not going to try that again.  Fluids and soup will get you where you need to be soon.

Thanks Cat... I had some Gatorade in the pantry and I seem to tolerate that. At least it has some calories in it. I'll try some more soup later. Trying to hit that magic 500 calorie mark. I'm so damn weak.

I appreciate all your help. I couldn't get through this without your help and support. Thank God I am not the ONLY person in the world going through this because it felt like that on New Year's eve before I found this forum.

Maybe ice cream... but only vanilla.

not a drug used in u.k.,but opoid just the same......how long did you taper ? 1 a fortnight max if you have a habit. slower as you get down low !  i'm down to 8mg of bupe from 12mg in 1 mth + i feel so energetic + optimistic (instead of 10 yrs of highs + suicidal lows)..so when u get to a dose that suits u + u don't feel like a junkie.....get all the things sorted that drugs are covering + find new interests....        nothings out your reach if u can sustain a drug habit !

Yea I know I am just losing the lbs. sitting here and I guess that is OK as I can stand to drop a few. It looks like my New Years start on a new life is going to be twofold - kick the habit and some weight loss.

As long as this has happened to others I will keep up the fight and consider it normal. Thanks for the reply
