So frustrated with my situation!

As many of you already know, I've been having problems with my cleft palate and have been waiting to hear from the dentist for an appt to get a new obturator made. I finally called them yesterday morning and told them I couldn't keep waiting. That I'm having more n more blood coming from my nose and the pain is becoming unbearable. I can't take more than two of the Tylenol 3's a day because they make me sooo nauseous and give me a headache from he//. Once I told them I would need to get my records transferred if I couldn't get in soon, tey were ready to call whoever they had to! So now my appt is next Thursday which is good but suks at the same time because that seems like eons when it hurts this bad :( I asked if there is ANYTHING they could do for me until the new one comes in and they said if I'm having that much of a problem to call the oral surgeon again. Go figure....I feel like a damn ping pong ball...back n forth...back n forth. Makes me wonder if they've looked at my prescription history and seen I was on methadone last year and they just think I'm drug seeking? Just doesn't seem fair that the one time in my life that I've had this much pain with the hole in the roof of my mouth and the sinus problems its creating, that I'm being strung along and treated this way :( I'm just ready to give up I think.

Sorry for the venting. Just needed to get that off my chest.

Hah!! I like that...the roller coaster has to shut down sometime..all coasters stop sometime don't they!!

And I know this sounds nuts, but when I was younger and had all those surgeries sometimes my lips would get beyond chapped! And sometimes they would crack even...a couple times they wouldn't heal after cracking and actually did get infected. My surgeon always prescribed Nystatin...it's an ointment for diaper rash/yeast rash. And let me tell ya....it tasted lik a$$ but it worked very well and pretty quick too. Just a suggestion though. And I don't blame you for wondering if another doctor would've approached her treatment differently. I'm wondering the same thing myself right now! Lol. It's crazy what someone can go through...I cannot even imagine having half my tongue gone. Makes me realize I don't have it half as tough as some folks do!

Yes Yes the plastic surgeon would be a good one. I was with my mom during her cancer and the tongue thing. She went through some h***l from all the doctors telling her this and that. WOW get it right will you!!!!She has just one now that she trust and knows her situation. Some times we wonder if we would of search a liitle futher would some one been able to save half her tongue. She got the radiation from the outside but when it poped up again they could not do it. But this dr had this inside wond thing that did some radiation. She is OK but dealing with the yeast in her mouth and on her lips????Any Ideas for that one ANYBODY!!! I told her to use some yeast infection cream because the other things are not working??Going to check into it more. I know when I was nursing I would put some of that under there yeast breast. Now dr have a special cream. Most likely the same just named different so the phams & dr can make more money RIGHT???
Yes u have had your testing of faith have you not...What a merry-go-round you have been on....It keeps you strong and for me it makes me strong too!! It was bad enough getting off the methedone Right??I am glad you got some energy going that is a good thing..The antibiotics should do wonders.Just let us know whats going on it has to get BETTER...Ok I know you keep hearing that. I did pray at a meeting for you before we read..
God Bless hang in. The roller coster has to shut down sometime...

Ok...well I guess I'll give y'all a little update.

The oral surgeon said I needed to be treated by a doctor...ping pong ping pong...they just keep pawning me off on different ppl! So I broke down and went to urgent care...which sorry but that was a joke! The doctor didn't even WANT to look at the roof of my mouth, the hole in it or at my nose!! He patted me on the leg and said we'll get you fixed up and walked out...literally a 3 minute consultation. At least I did get the antibiotics I need but I guess I'll have to deal with all the pain. "Take ibuprofen"....God if I hear that one more time I'm gonna scream. Lol. And to top it all off he gave me Augmentin,2 x's a day, which you HAVE to eat with. Well that's a little hard to do because I'm surviving on eating next to nothing each day because it hurts too much to eat. I've lost 11 lbs in about the last 3-4 weeks. Good thing I still have the whey protein!

I guess this is just another bump in the road and I'll make it through...just wish it didn't have to be so damn hard!

I don't think I'm gonna find a regular doctor who understands my situation. I've thought about seeing if I can get referred back to a plastic surgeon who has dealt with this issue many times? Ugh I just don't know anything anymore.

On a brighter note....I do believe I'm almost through the worst part of the methadone WD's. I am getting energy back that I forgot I even had. It's been about two weeks that I've been feeling physically better so I think it's safe to say now that I'm doing better with all that without jinxing myself! Yay!!!

Vickie I have to call today for the antibiotic because both offices are closed on Wednesdays. Go figure...

But, I couldn't sleep last night because of the headache and nose pain so I did some research. Sinuses can in fact become impacted if an infection isn't taken care of. And it can lead to very serious complications such as meningitis and the infection can go to other parts of the body such as the brain and lungs. I'ts been bugging me for the last few weeks that every time I try to lay on my left side, I start this wheezing crap and I just figured it was some sort of residual left over from the flu & bronchitis I had in mid-February. Now I'm starting to REALLY wonder WTH is going on with me! Lol. The rest of my family is over their sickness and I just thought maybe I had it worse than they did and it was taking me longer to get well. The complications from impacted sinuses scare the crap outta me so I WILL find someone that helps me today, regardless of who it is, before I let all that happen! Wish me luck friends because I have a feeling I'm gonna need it! Lol. Hope y'all have a wonderful & beautifully clean day!!

I do know that all the pham have it on a computer and the dr and dentist can see, but I think that he did not even go there with you. I think he wanted not to deal with you because he wants you to see the oral dentist. He was maybe ha! tooo busy..And if they are going to give you something they want to see you. Heck he wouldn't even see you today..So calm down I think it is alright....Did you call for the antibiotic???? hang in and tie your boost straps and march into that other dentist in the morning..
God Bless lol

I don't either? I was u fed the assumption that they could see all your past prescriptions. I haven't had a methadone prescription since November 13 and Percocet sometime in December.

It's hard saying.  I would be wondering the same thing.  Does your Dentist and Dr share the same medical records?   I don't know if Dentist and Dr's share the same pharmaceutical records or not?    Good question!

Just out of curiosity...do any of y'all think that the dentist has looked at my prescription history and that is why he's blowing me off when I talk about the pain and how uncomfortable it is? After already being judged by my doctor for being on methadone, (which was prescribed) I can't help but feel like this could be what's going on?

Well I don't have any camo but I do have a kicka$$ pair of Justin cowgirl boots! Lol. And I have a leather trench coat somewhere out in the garage. Think I'd look bad enough then? Lol.

I do think the headache is from the sinuses just because my eyes, nose, eyebrows and my whole darn forehead hurts to touch it. I just hope they do give me an antibiotic and that it works FAST!

Your headache could be coming from the infection too.  The T3 gives me a headache as well, so I found taking one or two excederin with it seemed to counteract it on the spot.   Hopefully that will help.

That's pretty sad about the dentist office.  Gah!   Get your I'm gonna kick some behind marching boots on tomorrow when you get dressed!!   Got any camouflauge?  hehe

I'm going to call the surgeon back first because he is a little more "versed" on cleft palates and those types of situations. Hell....the dentist didn't even know what my obturator is called...he's still calling it a plug. Sad huh! I'm pretty positive I have an infection going on just because I can smell it. (Sorry...that's pretty gross isn't it!?) Then if the surgeon can't help me, I'm gonna stop at the dentist office because they're right down the street from each other! SOMEONE is gonna help me! If worse comes to worse I will just have to go to urgent care I guess. At least it's not as expensive as the ER. :(

I'll do that. I'm willing to try anything! I've taken excedrin several times but not WITH the Tylenol 3 so that could make a difference. My eyes have been hurting really bad the last few days so I've been eating Sudafed like crazy....maybe it'll help with that too! :)

That one would be good...An antibiotic. Because even if you go to dentist and have a infection they will want you to take that anyway until the infection is clearer. Hey can you call that Dentist back.Talk to receptionist and ask her to ask the dr about that...

I can relate to money.  Darn!  I wish I could do something or have a suggestion that might help.   Make sure when you call tomorrow (or march in) to mention the antibiotics.   If the T3 is giving you a headache, try taking some excederin with it.  Maybe that will help?

Yeslife4me, I just can't afford an ER visit...with our insurance we have a $300 copy right off the top and then a percentage of whatever the treatment costs. I kinda have to save whatever money I can for my new obturator because its so expensive. Being in so much pain all the time is physically and mentally draining. And you're right....I won't give up even though its what I feel like doing right now....because giving up is just not an option. This is something that has to be taken care of! I keep thinking about it and I don't understand why I wasn't given an antibiotic last week when he said my sinuses were full. It's obvious it's not draining and the bacteria would have to cause an infection? Can't help but wonder!

Oh Girl..I feel for you, I really do!   My pain was nowhere near what you are experiencing, but when I had that really bad all over fibro before I even went to the Dr, I was so tired of being in pain and trying everything over the counter, heating pads, hot baths, you name it to relieve it and nothing, I mean nothing worked.  Fortunately when I called the Dr they could get me right in.  But before that I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I was going to be in pain.  If it wasn't for NurseGirl telling me I really needed to go to the Dr I would still be in a lot of pain.  Now I just feel goofy half the time from this Gaba stuff, but at least I don't hurt like I did!    Anyhow, don't give up on yourself and your situation.  Sometimes it is darkest just before the light and I just know that relief is coming for you.  In the meantime, can you go to an ER or urgent care for just the pain part of it?   And I like what WIC says about marching into the office and demanding that they do something to help you until you can get the work done.  That's ridiculous to expect you to wait.  I too will be praying that an answer comes your way soon.  You deserve it.
