(i Can Post Again!)..Subutex And Weight Loss??

finaly i can post again! i all are doing well..anyway as alot of you know i switched from 70mgs of methodone and started Subutex (legal script) 2 weeks ago. im doing the best iv done in years. im 6feet tall and my usual weight is 185 lbs, but on methodone i went up to 230 lbs at one point! i went down to 215 lbs cuz of exersising but now that i stopped methodone and started 8mgs of subutex three times a day, iv lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks (not even exersising). and i still cant eat..is it cuz of the subutex?

I was on methadone for 5 years, i gained a stone and a half on it but looked better for it. I went to a detox centre and my methadone was halfed every day until i was on 2ml on the fifth day, after four days on nothing (and the doctor telling me I should feel better for 2 of those days, patients telling me i would feel awful for qiute a while) I felt physically terrible but it was the anxiety (the one thing i thought i would be able to handle) that got to me, i was goin insane, i got a taxi home and was givin subutex by my cousin. I got on a script and started to lose weight, looked and felt terrible. I blamed stopping the meth for the weight loss but as I have been taking as least subutex and missing picking it up, i have put some weight on. its really pissed me off because they would be ideal but im 5ft 3 and when i started to fell under 7 stone I couldnt carry on. Im getting no answers from the drug team or doctors, I ate well while on them it made no difference, i used weight gain too. I dont know what to do, I would love to do my rattle cold turkey but its so scary.

Oh that explains it... Wow that was alot of heroin, I am glad to see you made it out :-) I was taking 25-30 vicodin es 7.5 or vicodin hp 10mg per day and was started on 10 mg of subutex/day and I have just recently brought myself down to 8mg/day.. I agree w/you that this is a great medication, I have absolutley no w/d symptoms at all.. But I am a little nervous to eventually come off of this drug for fear of w/d.. But the clinic in Detroit where I go is awesome they let me taper at my own pace and told me that some people take subutex at a low dose like 2mg/day for years or even life so at least it is my option to continue to take it if I want to..Congrats to you on your sobriety :-)

Can I ask what you took and how much before you were on Subutex???  Just wondering being that you take 8mg 3x daily, I only take 8mg 1x daily and was just curious

hey how are you the wieght loss is the lack of methadone over the 4yrs I was on it I gained like 80lbs no off of it have lost 55lbs in th efirst 8wks but that sok needed it I had beenchecking on you through vicaddict im happy the meds are working for you

i when i was doing drugs i was snorting 350mgs a day of 0xycontin then switched to slamming heroin (30 to 50 bags a day). so i went on a methodone clininc and went up to 120mgs a day of methodone and eventualy got myself down to 70mg a day of methodone..so from there i just went cold turkey for about 5 days from all drugs, then went to my doctor (VERY sick lol) and he told me to take 8mgs of subutex three times a day..he prolly prescribed that much cuz of my High tolerance

thanks for the support chem and gip and vicaddict n everyone else here..you guys helped me more than you could know. SKYFOX..yea im very happy with the results of the subutex, im not sick at all and my cravings are at almost NOTHING! the only time i think about shootn dope is if i see it or am around people doing it. otherwise it dont even cross my mind anymore..iv never had any med that has stopped my cravings..untill now.

so the meds help more then th emethadone did I know you said you would still use even on the meth and im happy youdidnt have to go thruogh what I did Im sure it feels good not going to the clinic everyday!!

you have to do what will keep you off of the other stuff to so dont let doc push you I know about going everyday it sucks was happy to get 2wks worth at a time

iv g0ne through heroin w/d and oxycontin w/d and methodone w/d in year 2002(it was a SOLID 30 days of hell)..and by FAR the methodone was the WORST withdrawals iv ever felt in my life. but yea it feels great to sleep late and n0t have to go to a clinic every morning to get a dose. once you start a methodone clinic you are handcuffed to it (in my expirience anyway). my doc wants me to TRY to get d0wn to two 8mg subutex a day..err i duno about that but ima try l0l

  I am so glad that you are doing soo well. I wish you could get away from drug users. It would make your life so much easier and nicer. I know that right now you have your plate full, and may not be ready to address that issue for now. Just doing what your doing is much to be thankful for. I am going to keep praying for you. I really wish the best for you. Keep up the good work.

I have been on the subutex for 2 months now and I have not lost any weight.... So I am not sure if it is connected or not but I guess everyone is different in how they react to medicine... So you are also happy with the results from taking this medicine??
