Thanks for the info. The problem is that I cannot take motrin or other overcounter pain meds except tylenol, and tylenol doesn't help me much. The reason for this is since I had my mitrol valve replaced with a metal one I have to take blood thinner everyday because the blood has to be so thin to go thru the fake valve. And motrin, advil, and other have something in them that increase the blood thinner med that I am on. So I cannot take pain med with ibeprofen in them. This is one of the reason why I got addicted to pain meds, because for any pain, injury or anything the doctors throw lortabs at me. I did go to the dr today about the surgery and the dr said that she can do the surgery a certain way "I don't want to affend anyone so I won't go into details" , but the way ahe is going to preform it I should not have such a long recovery time, so that is helpful. But I appreciate all the advice everyone can give.
Thank, Becca

I have not thought about accupuncture or hypnosis, I know I could not do accupuncture because my blood is so thin it could be dangerous, and I am not sure about hypnosis I am a skeptic about that. And you probably are right about what the procedure is, lets just say it wont be done through my abdomine. Its still high risk for me because of the blood thinner but the Dr say's it a quicker recovery time, so this so mean less pain meds. Thanks for the advice.

I'm sorry to hear it, that must be so very frustrating to be limited in basic choices.  Tylenol is just not the same.  Motrin and a bunch of the pain killers are blood thinners - which is why they help me avoid crashes (from the cfs).  I figured my experience was worth a mention, and maybe it will help someone else someday who reads the archives.  I wish I had something in my experiences to offer you!  What I can offer you all my heartful wishes for the best with this.  ...If the procedure is the one I've thinking of (that would sound strange/gross here), I've heard good things about it.  Are you at all into alternative stuff - do you think accupuncture or hypnosis for reduction in self-perception of pain, would be worth exploring at all for the long term?  (I've never talked with anyone who's tried it for that purpose.)  Well, I really hope this goes well and smoothly for you!
